He doesn't invite me to play. I'm beneath him, according to his own words. I could provide him with some excellent ball washing tips and tricks though.

Looking pretty low to the ground in that image. Did you take that photo standing on your tiptoes?

Avoids natural sunlight by applying manmade chemicals to your skin. Sounds legit.

I’ve never put any of that on and never will. 67 years old and I have a very brown tan. I love the sun.

Easy for you to say, one bottle of sunscreen will last you an entire year.

sunscreen doesn't ... prevent cancer.

Cite?

There isn't really anything to cite. Skin cancer rates continue to climb despite increased use of sunscreen. They think that sunscreen's impact on UV filtering decreases cancer risks based on lab experiments but there is yet any real world data to support the claims of sunscreen preventing cancer.

The only proven methods are limit sun exposure based on your skin. Whatever amount of sun you can be exposed to and not sunburn is a good starting point. Time of the day exposure matters. 1hr of sun at 9AM is different than 1hr of sun at 1pm and 5pm.

Solid advice.

Skin cancer goes deeper eventually.

My wife is a bit older than you but in the same boa. A great tan and never had a problem with her skin yet. Me on the other hand is a different story. First bad, blistering burn at 14 yrs old. Typical teen during summer run around without a t-shirt.

I'm 70 + and had my 1st skin cancer removed at 35, been fighting it more than half my life. Everything so far has been BCC, the least aggressive, slowest growing type.

Sunscreen does work if you follow directions. The biggest factor is genetics.

Forget sunscreen.
Buy a good wide brimmed hat and wear long sleeved shirts to protect your skin.
Also protect your eyes with good sunglasses.

Pale skin, blonde or red hair, and Northern European ancestry are the 3 biggest genetic risk factors for skin cancer.
