I can't put myself in this mans position, due to lack of wife/family. But I can say for myself that I would've gotten in that parking spot and wouldn't mind bringing in the law to avoid unnecessary confrontation.. The pedestrian has no right to stand there

A big underrated part of life is picking and choosing your battles. Knowing when to do so makes life a lot easier. This is an easy one.

After I called the police, recorded the man, and had my spot..No I wouldn't mind, I'd have to pay to fix my car and my taxes may go up due too his jail time but at least this POS isn't still running the streets thinking he owns every public space he puts his feet on

I'm sure the cops would come flying over. I wouldn't have done shite, I'm not fighting some jabroni over a parking spot at the zoo. I believe in karma for shite like this.

I know which battles to choose, and on the internet behind this keyboard, I choose this one, that's my parking spot

Yea, that parking spot is totally worth the consequences of what this could have caused!!!

At that point it isn't about the parking spot anymore, it's about not letting people like that walk all over you and others.

I understand both perspectives. Driving off because it's only going to be a hassle for you. Fine. That's rational. I also understand the attitude of standing up to people who attempt to walk all over everyone around them. Yes, not simply driving off with your tail tucked between your legs opens you up to greater risk. But that's life.

But go figure you seem more aggravated with people who might want to stand up to this kind of thuggery than the thuggery itself. Totally consistent with what I'd expect from your posting history.

I would have parked right there, got out and told him I was waiting for the spot and I wasn't moving my car. He would have realized his people weren't getting the spot and he would have moved, especially when he saw that he was blocking several cars. Nothing would have happened to my car. He honestly looked like someone who would have understood the situation and moved on.

I've been in this situation before. Nobody ever fricks with the car. They try, and if they fail, they just move on and try it again somewhere else.

I was in a somewhat similar situation, but reversed. Was with my girlfriend, leaving Clearview Mall. I was in the 3rd closest spot to the Target entrance. Put my truck in reverse and a woman turning into the parking lane pulls almost directly behind me but sees the reverse lights. She stops, but then another car pulls into lane behind her. The first woman can't backup but she refuses to just drive off and find another spot. I can't back out without hitting her. The car behind her won't move.

I'm yelling out the window that I can't back up without hitting her but she doesn't care. We all just sit there.
Other parking spots open further down the lane, but this lady won't move on to a parking space 4 spaces over.

5-6 mins pass and I'm loosing my shite at this point. The woman in the car wont move and we're both just yelling at each other. My GF is telling me to calm down. Finally I say frick it and we both just get out of the truck and go back near the mall entrance. I didn't go inside b/c I wanted to make sure the woman didn't frick with my truck.

She continued to stay there for at least another minute or two all the while other cars were honking their asses off. She finally drove off and parked 4 cars down and we went back to my truck. There was no fricking way that bitch was getting my parking spot.
Still pisses me off just thinking about it. Bitch wouldn't just park 4 spaces down. And yes, she had a nice tan.

As someone who frequented the Houston zoo and Herman park, that is common occurrence with all races. It's not parking just for the zoo. It's for Herman park and spots are extremely limited. On days where it's pleasant weather you better be there 30 minutes before the zoo opens if you want to avoid that. It's been like that for at least 7-8 years that I've been going. I just park across the street close to the golf course, that crap doesn't seem to happen as much and what's an extra 50 yards when you're going to be walking around the zoo anyways.

As satisfying as it would be to run over this POS or sit and clock the spot from his people getting in..

You have to realize he has far less to lose in this world than you do. I am not risking my or my family's lifes over a parking spot. It's just not worth it.

This, this, this! I'm not familiar with that parking situation, but the hell with driving around a parking lot, stalking people out to their cars, or waiting for a spot to open up. I'd much rather park farther away and walk than deal with massive assholes. And usually by the time they've finally found a spot, I'm already inside.

How do you know what he has to lose? And who said anything about risking a life over a parking spot? the man didn't threaten to kill anybody, he simply thought the spot was his by standing in it. I don't agree that it was his spot to claim but it wasn't like he pulled out a gun.

You seem very rational.
