It's the right thing to do. The legislature should be supporting LSU, not the athletic department.

Seriously, frick those snowflakes.

This is exactly what they deserve for shitting on athletics over the new locker room. Let's see how they like it when the school gets ZERO funding from them now.

On a related note, I can't wait to see how the state responds to this now that the state will be solely responsible for funding the state school. Heads are about to roll politically.

Tiger Rant has big thread on this.

Its the right thing to do.

The AD will still give them money, but it will be for specific projects where they can monitor what the money is being spent on. For instance, the University can submit requests for projects to receive funding and the AD can prioritize what they will finance like "New Biology Lab Funded by Athletic Department".

Currently, the University is actually budgeting for the automatic check it gets every year from the AD. That is foolish on so many levels and we have no idea how badly they are wasting the money.

I do think it should be a symbiotic relationship, but I'm also fine with the athletic department not having a specified amount they agree to beforehand.

Love the timing of this.

"Whaaa!! LSU Athletics makes so much money and I teach and I'm poor and wise!!! Whaaa!!"

LSU Athletics: "Ok bitch, funding gone...."

"WHAAAAAA!!!!!" :intelligibletantrum:

They'll still get funding for specific things. But the AD will have oversight into what the money goes towards.

They will not receive an automatic check every year to waste on whatever they want.
