I haven't seen it mentioned, but the folks with families using any kind of firearm in the house, especially AR's, but also pistols and shotguns with slugs, think about shooting through your interior walls.

You don't want to hit a family member through a wall, trying to put down a criminal. The right load and some forethought can save a lifetime of grief.

Well, I don't know about that. Despite having grown up "a country girl" I am a horrible shot. My Daddy used to say it was his biggest failing as a father. Oh well. My husband bought something called a Mossberg Tactical 5000 (I call it the P940 space modulator - que looney tunes fans) It has a bolt action so it makes that scary sound then sprays bullets all over - so that even the likes of the anti Annie Oakley will hit sumthin'.

But my first line of defense is my dog's. I have three pit mixes. One of which is probably more full-blooded. He weighs 70 lbs of solid muscle - he is almost as wide as he is tall. He only has one eye and his ears were cut down to his scalp. His head is as big as a basketball. From a distance he looks black, but he's actually brindle. No person in their right mind is coming anywhere near him. For the ones who aren't in their right mind, I've got that gun thingy.
