Hell yeah. Aladin's Castle was great too in Southland Mall. Also on rare occasions we would get to go to Penny Arcade on Vets.

Every Friday night. The Odyssey arcade. Godfathers was right next door. My Police or Union Jack sleeveless Ts on with Sunbritches. Mugging with Angel behind the fence. Damn, it didn't get much better than that.

You need to get pictures of the girls with big hair and guys wearing Members Only jackets or tight OP shorts, playing Pac Man or Missile Command.
Thank you! I couldn't remember what those were called. I've got a picture of me holding up a stringer of fish from when my dad and I went fishing when I was about fourteen. I was wearing purple nut hugger OP shorts, a green t-shirt with a cheap iron on decal, blue tennis shoes and white socks with yellow stripes that were pulled all the way up. I don't know how my dad kept a straight face all day.

I could basically play Defender until I died of starvation if I wanted to. Same with Robotron.

Tron. Once you learned the tank and motorcycle patterns, you could play for a long time.

The big thing for me (born in '83) was Street Fighter II, and Mortal Kombat people would be lined up for hours playing those games. I mastered Ryu and Sub Zero so I could go through 10 people sometimes before someone could beat me.
So much demand you had to put your quarter up on the arcade to claim your place in line.
Man I miss those days.

Track and Field and Hyper Sports...using the comb between your fingers to run faster. Also they had a hockey game at the pool we use to destroy.

My all time favorite fighting game was Time Killers

Anyone else here tricked by an older sibling that War Games could actually happen?

And I can't help but wonder if had kids nowadays spent their teen years cruising, interacting face to face with their peers, and generally hanging out like we did back then, would they still be a giant collection of pussies, unable to cope with the real world, getting "triggered", and needing "safe spaces"?
It's not THAT bad, Darth. My son is 10. And yea on some nights he's with me I hear him in his room playing Call of Duty and yelling at some dude in Montana calling him a "cheating bitch".
But he's also very involved in team sports and EVERY weekend is a friend's birthday party from a big yard to area 51 or rock star racing.
Parents are still encouraging some good ole fashioned face time. Just not the old school "roam around the neighborhood looking for shite to do" type of thing I guess.
Three of my favorite arcade games were.
Kicker
Ikari Warriors
Elevator Action
And honorable Mention
Crossbow

I grew up in a sleepy little town west of Atlanta called Powder Springs. The HS football and wrestling Coach opened a little arcade called Coach Moore's. He had that joint for about 3 years before expanding big time by renting three store fronts side by side in the local shopping plaza. Changed the name to Bobby's Pizza and Games.
The middle unit was a pizza place with about 10 tables. One end unit was a dance club and the other was the arcade. I lived about 1/4 mile away and we would walk their on weekend nights. It was the place to be for about 150 teenaged rednecks every weekend night. And there was a fight or two every weekend. It was typically scheduled during the week at school. Eddie and Paul are gonna fight Saturday night! Eddie (real name) was always a featured fighter but only a few would step to him after he started bringing nunchucks even though he never used them. The fights never took place inside Coach Moore's because he was a big old boy who would sling unruly kids around. Everyone would empty out and walk over to "behind Majik Market" for the fight....which usually ended up in a standoff or pushing, shoving, and a little windmill action.

The old Spaceport in Cortana Mall was the best. Back when it was a narrow, dark and the walls were lined with the best of the 80s arcade games.
There was the old dude at the front in the blue jumpsuit and the coin changer hooked to his belt.
Man, it was fun. Paper Boy, Punch Out, Hogan's Alley, Karate Champ, Ring King, Spy Hunter....
I hate to think how much of my allowance I spent there between 1984-1990.

I still drop a quarter in this every time I come across it.

This game blew my mind as a child. It was the first sit in game I ever played and it actually had voices from the movie in it.

Our country club had a small arcade with the PlayChoice 10. It allowed you to pick one of 10 awesome games including the best and hardest arcade game ever, Ghosts and Goblins.

The Plaza Lake Forest had the best arcade. There was a balloon machine where I could pick whatever color I wanted. There was a cartoon booth where for 25 cents I could watch 60 seconds of a Woody Woodpecker cartoon. At the age of 5 my mom would give me some change to play in the arcade while she shopped and my sister skated on the ice skating rink.
