there was a dude who would use a pocket comb, and when he hit one button, it would push other in, so he could get maximum speed for jumps and high jump

Pencils were the most common to do this, it was a widely known cheat.

I lived in Las Vegas during those days and YYZ would be all over 10 machines at Circus Circus.

People would stack up 6 or 7 deep to watch me get out of space.

Rake from top to bottom firing at full speed so the mutants would be clumped when you first encounter them.

Bonus if you had a spare smartbomb and the nerve to hold out until you had 90% of them on screen.

Eta a true baller never sees hyperspace because they would always grab one dude and carry him from level to level once it got tough.

I took my wife there on our first date. I let her beat me at air hockey.

We actually owned a small Arcade or a while. I was Crazy Climber king, decent at Donkey Kong, Asteroids and a few others.

Beating the TMNT Arcade game with my friend while 20 people were around us was a highlight of my childhood.

eastgate was the strip mall by the movie theater that had the super slide.

Twin city mall was indoors with Nickelodeon and orange Julius.

Track and field was my favorite. My friend and I mastered the "butter knife" technique to add speed.

Yep.

Use your index and middle finger as a pivot point and crush this game with something like a knife or other home-made bar.

This era was exactly when I grew up. It really was s great time to be a teenager. Life was simple and safe.

I feel bad for kids today. Their life is so complicated.

I'm sure the 12yr olds didn't talk shite during games like they do now. You think twice about calling someone a name when they're standing right next to you.

Of course kids actually got in fights back then. Not passive-aggressive internet fights like today.

Pic #3 of OP.

Chess King in the house.

How many people had a Chess King store in the mall? I had one Chess King shirt and a Members Only jacket. The two worn together was junior high style personified.

Was waiting for Spy Hunter.

Central Mall arcade, it was the shite. Tough machine to get on and when you did you stacked a couple of your own quarters to keep the machine.

Peter Gun theme was the game music if I am not mistaken.
