In the late '70s (1978) through about '81 this was in our skating rink arcade:

Atari Football

It had a big trackball that was sometimes difficult to move and was just in black and white display.

mark my words: the 80s and 90s will never be matched again in terms of qualify of life, pride in country, financial security, etc.

those twenty golden years will be known as the last great breath of america before the plunge.

This is one of the main things I thinks kids nowadays miss out on, Hanging out at the pool hall or game room on a Friday or Saturday night.

Cruising and hanging out. Poker games every other Friday. Hangouts were at the lake, frisbee golf course. Arcades were for daytime

That Atari football was a GREAT game. Later in the 80s there was a World Cup soccer one, but with real players by that time. I played the hell out of that at Loyola, and I won the whole freaking World Cup ONCE, and as soon as I was done, the game company's crew was standing there waiting for me to finish, and they took it away.

We played a lot of Gauntlet there, too, four players, skip class.

I loved this time. During late grade school and high school, some people we were friends with opened an arcade on the Expressway across from the waterworks in Marrero, we could ride our bikes or walk. $2.00 was enough to keep me occupied an entire afternoon.

Anyone remember Death Race? It would get to where you couldn't drive for all the grave markers.

Whatever happened to these things? I remember back in the 80's there would be hundreds of teens hanging out in the gym parking lot or the mall and cruising around between the two. Now, nothing. It's like teens have gone into hiding or something now.
