She needs to stay with this man if she truly loves him. Someone I know was engaged. His wife was diagnosed with a terminally ill disease. Almost zero chance of survival. He married her anyway. She fought like hell and they are still happily married.

If she does, there are always other options to have them.

Sure, but unless she's going to get a lot of support from other family, raising kids while also being a caretaker for a paralyzed husband seems like a daunting task.
Hard to say without knowing how much other help he/she is getting.

I know if that was my future wife I'd stick it out for her. It really wouldn't be a hard decision. They are broken physically but I don't think I could break their heart too.

Real life "Very Bad Things."

I cared for a bedridden person and it takes a toll in many ways. That's all.....

I guess this becomes a bigger question: at what point in a relationship and after a wedding does your partner become family?
I've been married 8 years and have a kid. If this happened to me, I'd probably expect my wife to stick with me. A few years ago,l before my son was born, I'd say to move on from me.
Like someone else said, I would love to Oregon ASAP and be done with it unless some scientists insisted my body could be used to help others in the future.

Time for her to get a new husband

I'm so sorry for this couple. They appeared to be in love.
I don't know how this marriage would go forward. Reading the OP was crushing sadness. It's pretty clear that they were in love.
I hope that they both find God's peace.

Even somebody who has a strong will and the best of intentions will get beaten down just by every day life in dealing with this situation.
If she chooses to stay and care for him it will be like Chinese water torture and will eventually make her a shell of her former self. She will never be able to grow in a career or mature in so many ways that we all take for granted.
While it seems as if it would be noble for him to tell her to leave, right now he is like a drowning man looking for any life line. He is still holding on to any link to the good parts of his life and she is part of that.
It is a bad situation for all.

He should chase her off and then write a book (Mitch Albom?) or do a special on OWN or some such network.

I would hit it..... that is, if she wants a man that can move his legs

When you said "What would you do?" I assumed she left him

Speaking as someone currently in a similar predicament as the lady here (my girlfriend had a major debilitating stroke a couple of weeks before I was to pop the question this past May), the situation sucks no matter what angle you look at, and it makes for one hell of a limbo to exist within. People close to me have expressed that I wouldn't be the bad guy if I ended up walking away and they'd understand, but right now I'm just trying to help her get back on her feet before making any long-term plans, because long-term plans with her involve a significantly reduced quality of life for the both of us (ability to have children and money related).

I would tell my bride to be to move on without me. If he really loves her, it's the fair thing to do.

Sorry about your girl. If you decide to move on it does not mean you cannot stay in her life, just helping her and being her friend. It is a tough situation though.
