Total honesty: I wouldn't want someone to stay with me if I was in that condition. I don't want to be a burden on someone. God bless the both of them, because they have no idea what type of road lies ahead. He's a lucky man.

Similar thing happened to a bride to be at her bachelorette party when a friend pushed her into a swimming pool. Hit her head and became paralyzed.

That was only the waist down. I say "only" because I heard that they now have a kid or two.

This reminds me of my aunt and uncle.
My uncle got turned into a vegetable soon after they had their second baby. Till this day, my aunts sole preoccupation has been as a care taker.
She took care of her husband and children and over time it turned into her grandchildren and children.
She's never had a "job" in her life because she has spent 9 hours a day in facilities most of her life. (She lives off interest from previous investments).

My related sad story
Childhood sweethearts from my hometown were set to be married this fall. She is one of the nicest persons you will meet, very pretty, and homecoming queen.
They went to a party at the college they attended. She doesn't drink so as they were leaving she offered rides and told people to be careful. And they left
One of the fiancé's best friends decided to drive and was driving really fast. He caught up to them and literally ran over them and somehow launched their car into the air.
She was in serious condition, the fiancé with life threatening injuries, and the "friend" was fine and drove away to avoid getting in trouble
She is now paralyzed from the neck down, but has regained some movement in one arm. And while I'm not exactly sure of the status of the "friend" I am sure he is either in jail or about to be
The couple went ahead and got married but from what I hear from my mom it is a struggle and will be a struggle. They are very dependent on others. She spends her time in bed or her special chair and he goes to work and comes home to take care of her
It is very admirable to love somewhat enough to stick with them through this but a person has to be very sure that they HAVE to be with that person. Either way life will never be the same
