Why can’t , or possibly more important question. Why won’t we just wipe the “houthis” off the face of the Earth.

Our military is still built to fight major engagements and is why it struggles with asymmetric warfare. Even after Vietnam, Iraq, A-Stan and this new dustup, we have yet to master a plan on how to effectively deal with insurgencies.

The actions required to deal with insurgents is brutal. We don’t have the stomach to do what is required, and frankly that’s a good thing.

It's really just kind of impossible to eliminate large groups of guerrilla terrorists on their own land. That's what they want, and if you kill them, more will pop up. You would have to just kill everyone in the entire region with nuclear weapons to accomplish the goal, and that is frowned upon by the united nations.

but speaking seriously, they are not a traditional army with standard organization and fixt military installations. there are a guerrilla force that is mixed in with the general population. they go "home" and come back out to fight when called

We better grow the stomach sooner or later or at least learn to cope. Symmetrical war is a thing of the past. We are watching countries in western Europe fall in real time due to what is in fact an insurgency.
