This has already been said multiple times, but I'll try again. Cheetahs do not have retractable claws like other cats and do not use them like weapons like other cats. Their claws are blunted from running. You are arguing from a position of complete ignorance and giving attributes to cheetahs that they do not have.

I didn't say they'd rip the wolf apart, but when cheetahs run faster than an SUV and pounce on animals their claws still can cause some damage. They grab and tackle.

Wolf and it's not close.

The cheetah isn't built for fighting. Servals can effectively go one on one with cheetahs.

Cheetahs are not very powerful at all. A full grown male Gray wolf has the clear advantage in power and if it got it's teeth sunk into the cheetah it's over.

Cheetahs are constantly getting punked by hyenas. Wolf wins.

Who are we giving the nod to as far as intelligence goes? Are big cats smarter than house cats?

They're smarter in different ways. And yes, those wild animals are smarter than house cats because they have to be to survive.

I think in general the wolves are more intelligent because of their being highly social.

The wolf obviously. They're one of the smartest animals on the planet.

Wolf without a question. Way stronger. Cheetas can run fast and that's it. For those counting the pack mentality against the wolf, that's how it hunts. Not how it fights.

I don't know what people think cheetahs are, but they aren't fighting animals. They avoid fights because they don't have the stamina or tools for fighting. Their bones are thin, light and relatively fragile because they need to be for the cheetah to hunt the way it does. They also overheat very quickly and their bodies start shutting down so their massive lungs can cool them down. A cheetah isn't like your typical cat. It's more similar to a greyhound.

Wolves are muscular and built to take down (in packs) large prey like buffalo and moose. They can run for like 5-10 miles chasing prey and waiting for it to tire. Animal fights aren't over quickly. They last awhile. It's a battle of attrition. The first to tire is the one that dies.

but which of the two animal's fat would make the best ingredient for moisturizing lotion?

The wolf, easily. It has more/better fat because of the environments it has to survive in. The cheetah has very little fat and thin skin.

You could take wolf blubber and make some good taint oil to ensure that your taint is adequately moisturized.

Cheetah loses, end of story.

Lion - tiger - mountain lion - leopard - jaguar - snow leopard > Gray wolf.

Cheetah < wolf

1 on 1? Cheetah, everday. Cheetah has the claws and teeth.

Wolf pack? Game over for cheetah.

Hyenas have a bite force of 1100 PSI compared to 1500 PSI of a gray wolf. A cheetahs is only 450. The reason the cheetah retreats is because it has no endurance and knows the hyena will kill it in a fight. The San Diego Zoo has a 100M cheetah run where the cheetahs can become fully exhausted in one trip at full sprint. Complete exhaustion as in their body begins to shut down and they have to lie down and allow their body to cool off for several minutes.

Cheetahs rely on ambush, quickness, and precision when they kill. The wolf relies on endurance, bite force, and power. The grey wolf one on one would kill a cheetah faster than most realize.

yeah if they are running at full speed.
A cheetah is so much quicker and athletic than the wolf that it would never catch it. it would never need to run anywhere near full speed to get away from the wolf, and it could always climb a tree and wait for the wolf to leave. cheetahs are 0-50 in 2 seconds. they've been shown to have enough acceleration to go from 40-50mph in a single stride.
as I said before, if the wolf wanted to kill a cheetah, it could, but it's not stupid enough to spend the ridiculous amount of time it would take to finally catch it.

If you somehow make them fight, wolf kills cheetah. If this is an encounter in the wild, the cheetah will always walk away alive.

I don't know that cheetahs are fighters. Male Lions fight for breeding rights and are built for it, but I've never seen a cheetah v cheetah fight. They seem like they are built to run down fast prey animals. Wolves fight constantly for rank in the pack. But they fight other wolves on the ground, on all fours with similar styles. The cheetah can climb, fight on two feet using it's front paws as weapons, jump out of the gym and has a massive speed advantage. I'd doubt the wolf gets to use it's bite force.
