Wolf would whip that arse all day long. Cheetahs are nothing more than a spotted greyhound. For those calling it a cat, it's much more like a dog ... fixed claws (non-retractable) and while it has quick bursts of speed it kills impalas by running them down and strangling them with a neck hold. It can't defend it's prey from any other cat, hyena, etc. Once it sprints it is so tired it can't even eat.
Wolf has size, power and endurance well in excess of a cheetah. Pack animal or not, a wolf would whip that arse.

Goddamned right, America!
Fwiw, Liam Neeson would win.

I say we look up Mountain Lion related wolf deaths to be a little more scientific.
I know mountain lions may be smaller than cheetahs.
Research show mountain lion is victor.

No. The Cheetah can sprint very fast for a short period of time. However, Cheetahs tire out very quickly.
Wolves are plenty fast, but are able to run for hours. They often chase their prey until the victim gives up from exhaustion.
While the cheetah has claws, the wolves coat will protect it from most of the swipes.
Having a much more powerful bite, the wolf wins handedly.

Cheetah wins 10 out of 10, no matter the venue

Can't believe how many stupid people think a wolf would kill a cheetah one on one.

Wolves and humans are two of the best endurance runners on the planet. Both exhaustion hunters. It's a large part why we made a great pair in domestication. Anyway, I just think that's really interesting.
Also, I don't think that cheetahs have any more effective claws than wolves do. Cheetahs have fixed claws, unlike pretty much all other species of cats. It aids with their speed.

Cheetah. I've seen those ulcers eat alligators out of the water.

Mountain lions are actually stockier than cheetahs and significants heavier. According to the wiki they actually range in size much larger than wolves. A mountain lion has a much better chance than a cheetah.
There's a reason that cheetahs are so fast, and a large part of it is that they are very light weight and not very powerful.

A cheetah if it were forced to fight. Generally a cheetah won't fight just for the heck of it because if injured, it can't hunt but, im pretty sure a cheetah can kill a wolf one on one.

One on one, cheetah for sure. The wolf is a pack animal and depends on the pack. They don't fight alone. As Game of Thrones says:
The lone wolf dies but the pack survives.

Except it wouldn't. The wolf is heavier and has the far greater bite force.
Who cares? The wolf's attack strategy is highly dependent on back up. The cheetah wouldn't give a shite going solo against a wolf. Simply due to the wolf's nature, it would lost to the cheetah one on one.

But you're not factoring in their behaviors. A cheetah immediately goes for the kill and is fast. The wolf is patient and likes to back up its prey. Plus wolves don't last long when they don't have a pack. If a wolf would act like a cheetah, then maybe it has a shot, but it doesn't.
Wolves are very comparable to humans. What if you have 10 men with spears vs a lion? The lion is for sure fricking dead. What about one man with a spear vs a lion? Unless he's extremely well trained, the lion makes a quick meal out of him. Wolves are the same way. It's why they've always been our main rivals, and not lions or bears. We fight in the same manner and rely on our wits. Cheetahs rely on themselves and would make a quick meal out of wolves and humans on their own.

Gray wolf wins. Cheetah isn't built for a big scrap but a quick ambush. If wolf sees it coming, wolf will outlast chhetah.

Cheetah would straight up slaughter a lone gray wolf in seconds.

In an outright fight? Cheetah, and anyone who says a wolf is an idiot.
A wolf prefers to hunt the same way ancient humans used to: take advantage of muscles built for endurance rather than speed, harass something to keep them running, and literally run them into the ground.
Look at videos of hunting wolves. It isn't rapid violence. Most of it is nipping at heels and tugging on tails, especially for larger prey.
