It's not just the name Nicholl's State. There are numerous buildings on campus with Confederate names, the local high school,E.D.White, is named after a Confederate general, with a State park/museum named after him as well. But Thibodaux is the typical small town with a lot of serious, old, big money in it. Will be interesting how the town's pols react to any PC threat.

Is E.D. White a private school? I can kinda understand the push to get rid of the "reminders" from public buildings etc, but when it comes to private institutions, I think it is a different story. Just my opinion.

Whitehaven means exactly what it sounds like. The neighborhood charter forbade non-whites from living there.

ED White is a Catholic High School
ED White did serve as a Confederate soldier.
After the war Grover Cleveland Alexander appointed him to the US Supreme Court where he served as Chief Justice.
Apparently Justice White was forgiven by those of his day, but racists like Chambers haven’t. If I had to guess Justice White doesn’t care.
