Remind your brother that he's gonna have a tough fight once he divorces and HE wants to see his own kids.(he married an obvious head case teacher so it's just a matter of when not if divorce happens) Advise him: Mom ain't gonna take his side then if he doesn't take her side now.

Dude marries a teacher he deserves all the crap he gets.

My sister is also a teacher and at one point she was not talking to her either. She then found out that people were talking and wondering why she wasn’t talking to my sister so she then decided to talk to her because she doesn’t like people talking bout her.

Right. I love how the OP is couched as if it's purely the WIFE'S fault.

Sounds like your brother’s wife wears the pants. Until your brother nuts up, your mom has no legal right to see her grandchildren.

If it were my brother, I’d crudely remind him that he’s not a beta bitch, so quit acting like one. I know it would kill my mom to not see her grandchildren, so I can only imagine how your mom feels.

Is nobody in this thread going to point out that we are only getting one side of the story, and also that the OP is a crappy writer who can't present a narrative with clarity?

Bruh, the wife of his poor brother won't LET his mom see their kids. That's clearly the WHOLE story here.

She has tried. Told them both she doesn’t have a clue what was wrong or what she did but she was sorry. I told her don’t ever do that again. Told her when they need a baby sitter tell them no. They just using her because they know she wants to see her grandkids and will eat shite to be able to see them. I told her that is abuse.

I don’t know anything about your mother or your brother’s wife, but 9 times out of 10 when you see a situation like this, it isn’t just because the wife is a grumpy bitch.

You yourself just said your mother is overbearing. I’d be interested to hear the other side.

Outside of abuse, there's no legit reason to keep a grandparent from grandchildren.

How is your brothers relationship with your mom?

If it's contentious then this is only going to make it worse and likely end their relationship with the kids.

If your son is good with your mom, then he needs to nut up to the wife. If your mom wants to spend some time with the kids, then the son can take care of that. Best thing to do is just to make sure his relationship and the kids relationship with your mom is good. He can handle his wife on his own. That is his problem. Not your mothers.

Why would she do this? If they’re extending an invitation for her to see the grandkids, why not take the opportunity? Maybe your SIL doesn’t like your mom... Who cares?

I get that what I meant was wants to do so much for the kids. Be involved when she sees them. Problem I have is she doesn’t talk to my mom, my wife, me and wasn’t talking to my sister and brother in law until it was said she needed to so it would be normal at workplace. When you look at it, she is the common on in all of this everyone else gets a long great

Sure it is. You can keep shitty family members from whoever you want. Family doesn’t magically get a pass for being shitheads.

Not saying OP’s mother is a shite head. But I’d be interested to hear the other side.

I feel like we're not getting the whole story here.

But honestly, when a person marries, their first obligation is to their spouse and their marriage, not there parents.

If a person made a bad choice in their spouse, then they need to deal with that decision, but in conflict between your spouse and your parent(s) you should default to supporting your spouse until convinced to do otherwise. Just my take on it.
