No, they very wisely did that to stop people from hoarding masks so that our health care workers could get more of them.

So they lie when it is convenient. Got it.

How hard headed are you? The mask does absolutely nothing...zero. So you are incorrect, at this point I only don’t give a frick about you.

Yes. The fabric of every great nation should be woven with lies.

The absolute deep state of this post.

The gov't leaders blatantly and knowingly lied to the public about the efficacy of masks so that their incredible lack of supply or preparation wouldn't be thrown at them.

You can't both withhold truth from the public and be incompetent at the same time. Head of CDC, WHO and Surgeon General should all resign and let more capable people take the lead. They clearly won't, but their failure warrants heads rolling.

I highly doubt a porous cloth will stop droplets from a sneeze of cough. Maybe if it was lined with saran wrap.

Mouth breathers project 6 feet away?

Wearing these cloth mask give you the false sense of security that you're protecting other, thus leading you to get closer to someone, which in turn puts them at a greater risk of you giving them something

Its actually you who doesn't give a frick about others

Made that up because we had limited supply. Zero integrity.

If they open it back up and the rates go up, isn't this true?

Maybe. But then you get into a discussion of causation vs. correlation.

I think the rates are going to go back up once people are allowed to interact in society once more. That's inevitable. But when this all started the rationale for taking these unprecedented measures was to "prevent the healthcare system from being overwhelmed." NOT, to totally eradicate the virus. If we've moved the goalpost then we are in an entirely different discussion because simply wearing a handkerchief around your nose/mouth isn't going to eradicate the virus.

If they wanted us to wear masks, they should have told it us it was to stop us from catching it. Buncha idiots we in charge.

I haven't read the whole thread, but actually they can't win for losing. I heard Tucker Carlson on a pissed off rant because they lied to us at first when they said the masked didn't help at all. They said that because they didn't want us to buy them all up and take away from healthcare professionals who needed them more. So either way they will be called assholes.

This helps explain the reason to use a mask.

I didnt say that. I blamed total incompetence, I do not think that is a conspiracy as much as generally accepted fact. Especially when dealing with Louisiana.

Keep your hands clean and stop touching your face.

This right here....here is the perfect way to keep yourself protected in Wal-Mart or any store for that matter.

1) Wash hands before leaving house.
2) Upon arrival in store go to bathroom and wash hands.
3) Do not touch face until the next time you wash your hands.
4) Upon leaving store go wash hands.
5) Get home unpack (and sanitize if you are anal) groceries.
6) Wash hands and now scratch face if you must (still not a great practice though)

Following those simple steps will keep you more safe than wearing some mask made of cheap Chinese cotton or rubber gloves.

ETA Practice the 6ft rule while doing this.
