CBS usually keeps their coverage of events like this pretty straight forward(within context of comparing to the competition).

Compared to who, specifically? They’re as dirty, biased, and corrupt as any other MSM outlet. They haven’t been straight forward since the sixties. Even Walter Cronkite carried the lefts narrative.

I foresee seeing more and more of this and I don't blame them.

Congrats on the move.

Hopefully the new gig doesn’t involve callouts!

No call outs ever again. I had forgot what a full night of sleep every night was like.

Congrats. I left in 2019. One of the best decisions of my life. I was still on road patrol at the time. Don’t miss it one bit. Well maybe the 1 percent of exciting stuff but definitely not the daily BS.

What's the new recruit pool looking like? I can't imagine kids are wanting to be cops when they grow up these days... we may not see the full ramifications of this until the current youth enters the workforce

don’t know what can be done about them though because it seems like they’re not being held accountable. What CBS did on air regarding the jurors of the Chauvin case is inexcusable.

I did not catch the verdict live. What did CBS do?

Did you start the police academy like most police officers do? After failing the fire academy

Eta: It’s a joke, police officers say the same to me but in reverse. And yes it was funny, everybody laughed

It’s definitely not ideal. No one is applying to be the police in BR and I can’t blame them.

Happy for you. I can tell you that I’m searching for a way out myself. Hopefully, I can peel outta here by beginning of 2021. Enjoy your new career and good luck. BRPD is a sunken ship. Shame.

Higher income areas can hire security and afford to live in gated communities.

A lot of gated communities are nice, certainly, but I've noticed several gated communities on the Westbank that look pretty sketchy.

Are your former co-workers trying to get out of BRPD as well? In your opinion, where do you see Baton Rouge at in 10-15 in regards to crime? I have family thinking about moving to Baton Rouge and would like to hear from someone who seems to know a good bit about the city.

I believe a lot feel the same as me but a good majority of them feel stuck because of the amount of time they have been there. I believe more will retire earlier than they had initially planned. That’s actually already going on.

Yeah...I'm 5 years away from retirement but luckily I'm not in patrol.

One thing that I have noticed the last few years talking to Police Officers is that none of us want our kids going into law enforcement.

I know one officer that told his kid he would pay for all of his college as long as he wasn't planning on going into L.E. afterwards.

I think over the next few years hiring pools are going to get pretty bad.

My former direct co-workers aren’t currently trying to get out because of various reasons, but I know that many officers are at the minimum exploring their options outside of BRPD. I would recommend to your family to look outside of the city limits of Baton Rouge. Maybe look in Prairieville or something similar.
