Eventually it’ll get to a tipping point and things will swing back the other way. I have no clue what that point is though.
The way that I see it.. It's a fad with these kids... But look at them.. They are getting free money. They don't want to work or even care about working.. The government is taking care of them...

As far as the media is concerned, I think they’re definitely partly to blame.
I am willing to bet ALL your past co-workers agree on that.
IS there discussion amongst cops about not going to certain areas of town, or not respond to calls if the suspect is black due to chances of the officer being put on charges, even if apprehending a criminal?

Good for you. Police officers really are under appreciated; They see the spectrum of the public at their worst all day, every day. That is not easy.

Triple shooting last night on Myrtle Ave. Resulted in one homicide.

Honestly, not sure if those discussions were taking place. I wasn’t on the road anymore when I left. I doubt it though simply because BR has such a large black population.
However, I do know that the vast majority of proactive work isn’t being done any longer by the everyday patrol officers. The criminals in BR aren’t scared of the police or getting arrested.

You get a lot of white on Eskimo crime up there?

Most dangerous area of BR, in your opinion?
Posted on 4/20/21 at 11:55 pm to Breauxsif
That’s tough. The area of Jefferson Ave near Plank is definitely up there. Brookstown, Gus Young area, there’s so many which isn’t a bright spot for the city.
Basically all north of Florida as well as pockets south of it.

Couldn't pay me enough to be a Cop.
Their job has never been tougher than it is today.

Got out of law enforcement
I got out of law enforcement less than a month ago. I was with BRPD but have since began a job in the private sector in another state. I feel lucky that I got out especially after the verdict today, along with the officer involved shooting in Ohio.
Getting out was the best decision I ever made. I will miss some of the people that I worked with and will miss the casework. However between the leadership of BRPD and the city, along with the national spotlight on everything that happens, it got to a point that it wasn’t worth it anymore.
I fear things will continue to get worse and feel for those in law enforcement that are simply trying to help their communities. And yes, there definitely are the a-hole cops out there that can’t handle an ounce of power and abuse it. I have no sympathy for them.
ETA, sorry I won’t be able to assist with the ongoing murder count in BR any longer
Thanks for even trying. You've done more than 99% of society including this board. Will you answer one question for me though? Why would any LEO regardless of race, sex, or anything else ever consider voting for a Democrat? Is this just people believing the mob "isn't talking about them" just the white cops or what? It truly baffles me.

It was sarcasm, playing on previously posted sarcasm.

I’d love to know that answer myself. Part of the Democrats’ platform was essentially taking food off of the table of police officers. I couldn’t support that even if I had been a Democrat prior to that (I wasn’t).

This is the plan - drive good people out of law enforcement and replace them with loyalists.

Congrats on your new career. Got out two years ago after about 20 in LE. Should've walked away 15 years ago!. Best decision I've ever made. I share alot of your sentiments...miss some of the people but not the headache. And as far as the power hungry assholes with badges (who can't do ANYTHING else), I have ZERO sympathy also.

Good on you, sir. But I'm sincerely asking now that you're out, why? If it was the danger I can seriously get it. If it is the cams and oversight, or threat of scrutiny, not certain I do.

The new buzzword from the talking heads with regard to the increase in violent crime is “Hopeful”. Whenever they don’t want to discuss the tremendous increase in shootings and homicides, they say “We are hopeful the numbers will improve later in the year”.

Got out 16 yrs ago and do not miss it.
I saw the beginnings in the 80’s and then the fast growth of Latino gangs. It was a losing battle.
The communities that need it the most are lower income areas. No one cares as they will still vote for the people that cause the problem or they do not vote.
Higher income areas can hire security and afford to live in gated communities.

Did you not believe all the reasons he gave in the OP?
I think it was because they no longer allowed him a ghillie suit for the "Roving Sniper" program. "You see a criminal?? Drop a Criminal."
