Students using Google software in the classroom will not be allowed to access the company's search engine unless their school system also opts in to artificial intelligence tools, the tech giant said Tuesday.
“We believe schools should have control over AI in their classrooms and in providing administrators with controls to help them manage their approach,” Phillips wrote.

Good. Organizations trying to pick and choose software options can develop them themselves if they want options. It is a nightmare trying to cater.

Not sure Google can win this battle. Lot of other search engines out there. Also, Google owns/runs a lot of stuff like Youtube, Fitbit, Nest, Android. School districts and cut them out of the loop entirely, banning them, not contracting with them and so forth. If districts around the country start doing that, Alphabet will collapse.

AI is built into the Google search feature. They would basically have to maintain a separate product.

The search engine isn't the thing. It's Google Sheets, Forms, their Crapbooks, and all that other shite. But all that it appears is changing is the default setting is to permit it, which can be turned off.
Get Crapbooks out of mandatory use, at least in elementary school and junior high. The amount of Youtube videos used in place of competent instruction is astounding.
