Received a job offer in Houston area and moving down there from the Midwest. Did some research, but want to hear from some people around there. Is The Woodlands a good place? Is the population mostly millennial or primarily families? Crime/safety?

Just need some opinions

Honest answer, woodlands is a very good place to live! Safe place to live, good schools, mall, the waterway is fun. I’d recommend if you have family yes!

How old are you and what is your budget? Where is your work?

How old are you? Do you have a family? Describe your lifestyle in one sentence.

All depends, what do you like? If you are young and single I would go to the heights. Pretty much almost anywhere inside of 610 loop on the west side of town is a good place to live besides a couple small pockets.

ETA: The Woodlands is far so I hope you don't mind commuting.

Lots of nice areas near Sugarland.
I live close to downtown because I am single but with a family the burbs around Houston are pretty nice, Woodlands Cinco Ranch, Missouri City.

If you don't move to midtown or the heights you'll regret it.

Telling us a little about you/your situation/where you'll be working would be pretty helpful...

Houston is the 4th largest city in the U.S. so it's safe to say that whatever your interests, you can find it there. Asking what's a good place to live is a pretty subjective question. What type of lifestyle are you looking to have and where will you be working are probably the two biggest questions that need to be answered before people can really help you.

live in Bridgeland which is a master planned community with lots of green space and parks and recreation areas.

Bridgeland Wikipedia page

The Houston way is to live out in the burbs and commute 35-45 minutes to work.

This offers to live comfortably in a nice house, take advantage of amazing schools and save money.

Bridgeland was ranked #23 for master planned communities in the car country.

Bridgland is very nice, but the mud taxes are off the charts ridiculous.

Yes, taxes are high with both MUD taxes. But with no state income tax is basically a wash.

In about 2 years the water and land tax will be reduced quite a bit. It went down from 1.5 to 1.4% for our section this past year. The newer sections will still have the higher tax until 10 yrs after completion.
