Tellurian's Driftwood LNG facility is happening, slowly but surely. This pic is from last month.

What Lake Charles saw has to be $35b worth of construction in a 10 year time span. I can't think of many parts of the country that has had that much private investment all at once in just a 10 or 20 square mile stretch. That's really impressive for a town the size of Houston or Atlanta....but for Lake Charles it's really astounding.

I wonder if they will benefit from the 5 year Industrial Tax Exemption then re-file for the 5 year extension thus avoiding property taxes for a decade?

Idk where both projects will get enough craft nor where they will stay

Build it and they will come. Manpower is a risk damn near anywhere you build, we always seem to work thru the problem.

Ok so don’t give the exemption and the plant goes to Texas and get no tax revenue or delay gratification for 10 years and get shite load of jobs, sales tax revenue and then in 10 years get another big swell of taxes.

A few years back we has Sasol, LACC(Lotte), and Hackberry LNG, projects at same time. We got most of the workers from the Valley, Hispanics. Vast majority are reliable and good workers. At LACC's high point we had over 3500 contractors on site.

I think Entergy was also setting up a couple of power units around there too.

So build export LNG and every other energy intensive industry in the US will lose competitiveness … double edged sword for job growth
A lack of export facilities was one of the main reasons the crash happened in 2014/2015. We drilled way too much and had no where to put it. I'm not saying we shouldn't prioritize US manufacturing but why not export gas to allies (UK, Germany, France, Japan, and South Korea) and keep exploration stable?

Instead of blowing 600 million to capture air , then store it in the fricking ground the money should be spent on infrastructure . Including highways for materials & men to get to work. Presently the old Highway are 2 lanes

Did anyone say that?

When we are talking Billions in structures being built the potential property tax is substantial and should not be overlooked, IMO.

Lake Charles has plenty of these. It’s why the state and federal governments didn’t give a shite after the hurricanes. Everyone just took care of their business and got back to work rather than waiting for someone to do it for them. While it has its issues, it’s an industrial city that has never had an issue supplying the man capital.

Did not see a tv report for a month after Laura but also never saw any govt agencies in LC. Ate at local churches daily and started the generator at 7 pm daily.
Driftwood and Common Wealth are still in the money raising business. Estimates are $10-12 billion per location and they aren’t close. We are ground zero for the LNG revolution in America but it’s a long haul.
