So build export LNG and every other energy intensive industry in the US will lose competitiveness … double edged sword for job growth

Yeah true.... and it will help that this one will be on the West side of the river while the other, at peak, will be on the east side.

Eastside will continue to be problematic logisticly. During phase one of Calcasieu Pass my friend commuted to the site from my house in Sulphur daily. Unfortunately, That's the life of a contractor who's committed to one company.

If the pipeline infrastructure is in place to support these export facilities....there would (in theory) be easier regional access to the fuel in south La and south Texas as a consequence. That's been the case in the past couple of decades. That's a piece of infrastructure that isn't really matched by the midwest or northeast.

At LACC's high point we had over 3500 contractors on site.

Triple that at peak and you are nearing what just the project across the pass from commonwealth is projecting. Entire parish has 5k people in it. Project is will have twice as many workers as the parish

I got a camper in my driveway in South LC, someone can rent it and we can commute together!

I've got a camper behind my shop that was only used during my covid furlough. I'll sell it to get off of the monthly note.

I’ll likely getting a camper bc I don’t want to waste 3 hours a day commuting

Truth.

Let's say this deal is done and the work start. If I were working this job, I guess I'd go down 27 on the East side and cross the ferry?

Nice. Now try finding young people there who actually want to work, aren’t on government assistance, and have enough brain cells to pass a drug test.

You have to think at one time Sasol, Cameron LNG, LOTTE, and Indorama were all under construction at the same time.

And all within a few miles of each other as the crow flies.

We've seen a huge amount of investment on the river between Baton Rouge and New Orleans and again in the area around the Houston ship channel and towards Galveston. But in both cases it was over a longer period of time and in a larger area.

What Lake Charles saw has to be $35b worth of construction in a 10 year time span. I can't think of many parts of the country that has had that much private investment all at once in just a 10 or 20 square mile stretch. That's really impressive for a town the size of Houston or Atlanta....but for Lake Charles it's really astounding.

That's when Lake Charles solidified its future as a larger metro area than it is today IMO. Basically those early Jindal years were a real game changer for SW Louisiana.

No idea for Commonwealth. I hear the ferry breaks down a lot and if you have a couple thousand people trying to cross each morning, I’d go whatever direction avoids using the ferry

They’re gonna be paying $160k to start for people.

But I just can’t bring myself to either move to Hackberry or drive an hour and a half in the middle of a swamp at 3am to get to work. I’d be falling asleep at the wheel and end up upside down in the refuge before I’d retire.

yea they are paying out the arse for engineers, but i just cant make that drive daily. value time with my kids too much

all my buddies that work at the LNG facilities are usually on the verge of quiting....then the bonus hits and the rethink it

as long as we dont get hit by another hurricane.

but even with the hurricane destroying the area in 2020, still had growth 2010-2020 of 10%+

No way in hell I'd rely on that thing. 50/50 at best to be running. And with projected increase use... it's going to be less probably
