Good news for Lake Charles area - Commonwealth LNG moving forward in Cameron Parish

Commonwealth LNG said it has closed on investment funding for a $4 billion liquefied natural gas export terminal it plans to build in Cameron Parish, a move that makes the company closer to reaching a final investment decision on the plant.
The deal with Kimmeridge Energy Management Company also calls for the New York-based private equity firm to take 2 million tons of LNG annually for a 20 year period. Kimmeridge may also provide more financing to Commonwealth to cover construction of the terminal.
This will help keep Louisiana's edge as an LNG hub; which will also help keep us competitive in both upstream production, pipeline infrastructure, and with anything that requires LNG for energy.
And while I live in the Baton Rouge area; I'm rooting for Lake Charles's resurgence. I'm still very angry at the lack of attention or support that area got after the 2020 hurricanes.

SW Louisiana is good, friendly people. They deserve better than what they had to deal with.

Yep. And I think the hurricanes + covid screwed up the census count there too. Possibly by as much as 5%.
So everyone will be shocked in 2030 by how much SW Louisiana has grown even though it's been reliably steady growth for years.

Read about this yesterday. You will have 2 large LNG projects on both sides of the mouth of calcasieau pass going on simultaneously.
Idk where both projects will get enough craft nor where they will stay

The industrial base of both of those towns are super impressive for their size. I know neither are the most impressive visually for people passing through. But the world needs places like Baton Rouge and Lake Charles (and Lafayette, New Iberia, Beaumont/Port Arthur, and New Orleans). They aren't perfect, but those are areas that still manufacture and produce things. Lots of dying midwestern towns wish they had just a fraction of those industrial jobs that are commonplace in south Louisiana.
I'm glad Lake Charles is recovering. Just wish it were quicker and that our government didn't just ignore them after Laura. Not sure how you can live through 2020-present and not be totally cynical about our government and leaders.

They’re gonna be paying $160k to start for people.
But I just can’t bring myself to either move to Hackberry or drive an hour and a half in the middle of a swamp at 3am to get to work. I’d be falling asleep at the wheel and end up upside down in the refuge before I’d retire.

Commonwealth will have to build the man camps. The other LNG project will be at peak manpower by time they kick off and all 2500 Rv spots and any available rentals close to Cameron will be filled.

We need everyone across the state to root for each other when it comes to recruiting business. Doesnt matter if it’s lake Charles, Lafayette, New Orleans, or Monroe. We need it.
ETA: the industrial sector seems to be doing really well, especially in S. LA. That’s great.

There's a lot of infrastructure still intact from the Cameron LNG project. You have to think at one time Sasol, Cameron LNG, LOTTE, and Indorama were all under construction at the same time.

Going to need more roads down there. Need a new turnpike system in La with a new bridge south of Lake Charles.
Most of Louisiana's industrial growth over the next 50 years will happen within this map.

A few years back we has Sasol, LACC(Lotte), and Hackberry LNG, projects at same time. We got most of the workers from the Valley, Hispanics. Vast majority are reliable and good workers. At LACC's high point we had over 3500 contractors on site.

Yeah true.... and it will help that this one will be on the West side of the river while the other, at peak, will be on the east side.
