she should expand her scope, just as many medical opportunities in Ft. Worth, with a little less sleaze than Dallas, and a little better col

Thanks, I’ll tell her.

west part of the metroplex
HEB, Grapevine, Colleyville, north part of NRH, and anything in Northwest or Keller ISDs. Southlake and Westlake are nice, but probably out of your price range.

Good luck trying to do that in DFW. That RE market is beyond ridiculous. You are going to have to pick between nice and convenient location, you wont be able to afford both. You can find nice areas to live, but you will be in bumfrick Egypt. You can find convenient places to live, but you will be in with the hood folk, the barrio or the white trash.
Rockwall is really tough because you have one artery back to the rest of the metroplex and its pretty much always a parking lot.
Its kind of depressing to watch the insanity that is the DFW RE market. We would like to move back at some point but I am really not sure how with how much a damned house costs there.

Throw Colleyville in and this would be the best areas.
I am in device sales and the best hospital system to work for seem to be BS&W unless she has a specialty like ED/Trauma or Oncology

Since you're driving in sales, it all will come down to where your wife (where are the pics) works.
Dallas traffic sucks at odd times of the day. Depending on your budget the area around Grandscape is also nice. If you want the best neighborhood and best public schools close to downtown Dallas its gotta be Highland Park.

It can be done but you have to take your time. I sat watching a house that I knew wouldn’t sell due to the cosmetic upgrades that needed to be done. Everyone wants walk in ready out where I am at. Got it last year after it dropped $200K, done all the work myself and likely will pocket a ton on sweat equity when it comes time for me to sell.

She’s currently in urologic oncology at WK in Shreveport and would like to stay doing that.

Gotta watch out for the gypsies around White Settlement though.
The first house I bought was in WS. Those gypsies were always driving around lifted hummers and all kinds of toolish vehicles you could tell they couldn't afford. Always trying to pay with odd amounts of cash to confuse the cashiers into giving them more change than they needed. They got kicked out of Chilis and Wal Mart regularly and acted like the dindu's when they were being escorted out. We're just trying to buy a baby doll for our sister's birthday. All had that little inbred look to them too.

My wife works at Harris in downtown Fort Worth. Seems like a decent hospital to work for as far as nurses are concerned. They have some weird push right now though where they're wanting to become a "learning hospital" and part of that, they're requiring their nurses to get some amount of more schooling. Although, they've had the requirement for their nurses to become BSN's for some time now and I know not all of their nurses meet that criteria even.

I worked in Richardson for 3 years until Covid while still living in La. Since I was keeping my La home, and bought a second work home “close” to the office to work out of during the week, it was on a budget. Ended up getting a place (sold it a couple years ago now), in Lake Tawakoni which is east of Rockwall. Rockwall was very nice as the closest place we’d drive into to do something.
In 3 years only ran into the I-30 bridge over Lake Ray Hubbard being really backed up / closed a couple of times. I was an early commuter however driving over it around 6:30 am, not sure how bad it gets later in the morning. There is a longer northern route 205/78 but you need to know ahead of time that there is a problem.
In any case it’s not anywhere near as bad as I-10 over the basin.

Used to live in Allen and McKinney but I moved back to Lafayette to save money on childcare and my wife's graduate school. I really liked it but be prepared for a sticker shock on property taxes if you want be in Collin County or Rockwall. On a side note, the police, fire/EMS, schools, parks, and libraries were awesome. I didn't pay for a gym membership because the recreational center was so nice and took my kids to the parks and library everyday during the summer for free entertainment. Taxes were ridiculous but at least you got some benefits for paying them.

Rockwall is nice, and there are medical facilities in that area for your wife's work.

I live in Southlake. Look at Denton county, particularly Argyle. That place is booming with a good ISD.
