Well, he could specialize in something where the pay is outstanding. One of my nephews first year salary after graduating was $275K. Damn.........

Going to any school at that age just sounds miserable. You should be living the good life and banking money by then

I have a retired MD in one of my MBA classes. Dude is in his 70s. Hard to believe for some, but there is actually people who enjoy progressing their knowledge. It expands the boundaries in your mind, and is almost euphoric.

It’s hard to say. Completely depends on how good his son is at being a high school quarterback. Then he could run some sweet commercials pimping his son out.

Well that guy clearly sucks at business and needs to take some finance classes, lol.
There’s nothing wrong with progressing your knowledge at all. But why pay a ton for it when you don’t have to and why attend classes in person being taught about a bunch of crap you don’t care about or want to know, when you can do it at home on your own time? If you are a retired MD, hell you could afford some private tutoring or lunches out with professionals a couple times a year to spitball ideas with.
The JD is different as it actually allows you to do some things that you otherwise could not. I can see someone getting a JD and doing pro bono work on a few cases they are passionate about through retirement. That’s a legal nightmare for whomever they face.

I imagine getting a masters degree from an institution will give you a much more robust feeling of accomplishment than going out for lunch with businessmen. And the guy is in his 70’s and was a doctor so I doubt he cares how much $ it costs

I can't speak for the JD, but most colleges offer free tuition for people past a certain age.

For a guy with an MD or someone that is otherwise accomplished and happily retired? I don't know about that honestly. Sure if let's say you dropped out of college and were successful, then wanted to go back and finish. I absolutely agree.
All I am saying is that unless you actually need an alphabet after your name for business, there's no point in taking official classes other than self fulfillment really. You can learn more proficiently for the most part outside of a scheduled class.
