Going to get LASIK Thursday. What to expect?

Besides to see better. Any pain involved? Recovery time? Is it worth it?

Go to sleep within an hour of the surgery or your eyes will be burning for several hours afterwards.
ETA: I had LASIK performed in 2004 and I’m still seeing 20/20.

Seem like questions you should have already answered

Couldn’t tell you, I have exceptional genetics

Well worth it. You’ll have to put drops in them for a week or 2, but they heal fairly quickly. One of my best decisions ever.

Only regret is not having it done sooner
Worst part for me is having to do eye drops afterwards
Procedure is strange but not painful

Not to sound like a dick, but how do you have these questions with surgery in two days. Dr Wu answered all of those questions at the first consultation.
I had it about a year ago. There is no pain. You can see better immediately. You're back to 100% in 1 or 2 days but a bit itchy. You put drops in for 2 weeks. It is easy and well worth it.

Dude it’s fricking fine. You have to take drops for a month and in the meantime you see perfectly. There’s more recovery for removing wisdom teeth. You should be more nervous for that one.

This is accurate. Afterwards is irritating for a little while, but not painful. Well worth it once it's over.

Well, they’re going to shoot you in the face with a laser. Might have been better if that was a surprise for you.

An alien, out of body experience.
Seriously, the best way to describe it is that if aliens do exist and abduct humans for experiments on them, lasik is the closest experience to that.
But no pain and absolutely worth it.

Had the surgery in 2003. It’s the best money I’ve ever spent. I tell anyone that who asks me. I had it done at 18 which is really young to have it, but I still see just as good as I did right after. (33 now). Prepare to use a lot of drops, and some slight discomfort, but other than that it’s nothing.

Go to sleep after. Wake up to take your drops. One looks like cum.
You’ll be fine the next day, but just take your drops as directed.

A cold hard object pressed against your eye as the doctor cuts your cornea. Imagine a deli meat slicer for your eye.
Once he/she peels back your cornea you will get to enjoy the smell of burning flesh as the laser beam shaves your lens in each eye.
Hopefully you talked to your doctor about how long it has been since your prescription has changed to ensure your eyes have stabilized.
I had to get glasses again about 10 years after my initial surgery. The optometrist mentioned that it was becoming common for people to get glasses again a couple of years after surgery because they were getting the surgery before their eyes stabilized. In my case it was more a function of getting old not having the surgery to early.

Be glad you’re not having PRK surgery. Much longer recovery time than LASIK, but it was still worth it in the end.

Sounds like you got lasik at a warehouse in one of the saw movies.

Same, but it was an issue of getting it too soon, nothing involved in the actual surgery.

If you’re having it done in the morning I’d recommend staying up as late as you can. I got a good night’s sleep and couldn’t sleep after my procedure even with the heavy painkillers and sleeping pills. If you don’t sleep you will feel some fairly uncomfortable pain for several hours.
It is definitely worth it . Had mine done in ‘03 and still see well. Only side effect is lights of oncoming cars at night have a starburst effect that is a little distracting. But you’ll get used to it.
Good luck.
