So my choices are 10 days in Europe this year or 21 days next year with friends.
Looking at Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Greece, and Rome... if I go with a friend next summer or Amsterdam and Prague if I go by myself.

Holy War doesn't scare me

21 days is a long time baw! a 10 day vacation is more than enough time for a bad arse trip. I'd go nuts if I was away from home/work for 21 days.

Yeah that is an issue right now, can I see all I want in 10 days in 2 locations

This year. Next year is too much time for your friends to change their minds and back out.
Trust me do it while you can because stuff always comes up later if you put it off-kids, weddings, jobs, illness, finances, etc will cramp your travel schedule.
That being said, 21 days would be better to see everything and friends would make it more fun. Just be ready to go next year with or without them.
I did Europe in 3 weeks with 2 friends and was plenty of time to see all you wanted to see, and was ready to come home by 3 weeks. 10 days would limit you to 2-3 countries, so just depends on what you want to see and do i guess.

I've been on 2 different three week trips now and they're worth it.
The value and flexibility on longer trips can't be bought on a 7-10 day trip

Weird to name 3 cities and two countries.
I'd go with friends this Summer.

I did 16 days in Belgium, Italy, and Holland with the GF this past summer... she does not want to go back but said I can do trips by myself....
Prague and Amsterdam would not be bad since I spent 2 days in Amsterdam I would have done a few tourist things and would be able to just have fun.
Although 21 days visiting would be nice (and for a friend to back out they are in as they make plenty of money compared to me)

Spain was supposed to be Barcelona... I've had a few drinks this morning

Since you have a gf I'd wait to go with friends. Alone would be boring in a relationship. Enjoy the trip

She has no desire to go back overseas, especially after what happened in Belgium recently (where we went last summer) so if I want to go I can go alone as long as we take a US trip as well according to her.

Go now, tomorrow isn't assured
If it were a money thing, or a take a shite trip now vs. good trip later thing, I'd say wait. But it sounds like both are viable and you're just struggling with the length.
I'd much prefer 10 days every year than 21 days every other year. 10 days is a good length vacation, it's practically impossible in the professional world most of the time.
