Well issue is friend can't go now and I can afford the short trip... if we go next summer I can afford a longer trip (due to saving) while he can only do 14 days due to his job. We have about 6 people interested in participating in the longer trip, all during various points of our journey. I teach so a summer trip is not an issue for me these other people work oil and gas, CPA, lawyer, and business manger so they only have an allotted time.

That's lame. Did you tell her she's just letting the terrorists win with that way of thinking?

Meh... gives me time to go and experience the world... all she wants is some US trips so we have Chicago planned for this summer along with a New York trip planned for Christmas.

Then I won't be able to afford this summer, for 1 person with a hostel I'm looking at about 1300 vs 3200 for 2 and a hotel

Cheap is better, plus I am a guy, I don't really need a hotel since I am only there to sleep

That is def a guy way of thinking

I'm sure LL will agree with me...gotta have a somewhat decent hotel. I mean...it can be cheap..but I need my own bathroom and it needs to be clean.

I'd rather go with friends regardless of the amount of days. But obviously you'll have a chance to see more over 3 weeks. I think wait til next year.

Meh, since it is Europe and I can piss in the street I am ok

I can also pack everything I need into a carry on bag, I would only bring a check-in bag to bring back alcohol and stuff.

The dollar is strong vs the euro right now. So everything will be 25-30% cheaper than it has been the last few times we went over. Next summer, the euro may be stronger....who knows. 10 days is good for 2 cities but 21 days is what we usually do in europe. I guess it comes down to how bad you want to go to amsterdam and prague vs. Spain, Italy and Greece. It is nice to have someone to travel with too. We'll be in amsterdam in late July if you need company.

hmmmmmm may be a turning point... since nothing is set in stone right now...

Main issue is buddy wants to only do 16 days vs me doing longer. The fact I have off for the entire summer enables me to do a longer vacation and to see more. Plus he does not drink so he is not as interested in the bars/clubs as I am.

Mrs Zappa is a teacher which is why we go over for 3 weeks. I take my laptop and work when I have too.

Yeah I remember talking about that with her at the jamboree...

It is great and easy to save the 1500-2000 needed to go for 15 days or so.... I could do this every year if the GF doesn't want to go anymore.
