so you baws are saying there isn't a reliable gas engine in full sized SUV/half-ton trucks right now?(2025)
you cant get the 5.3 in a 1/2 ton anymore?

There are roughly 877,710 total vehicles impacted by this, however not all are bad engines. Several have already made it into the 100,000+ mile territory. Our 23 is already at 46,000 miles with no problems.
It looks like there is an inspection that can be done to pass some
The wife's Yukon is due an oil change, I guess we will see what happens. Good thing we kept her old 2017 4Runner

Vehicles that pass inspection are to be refilled with a higher weight oil (0W-40 versus the standard 0W-20), a new oil fill cap, an “owner’s manual insert,” and may be returned to inventory.

We have a 21 with 140k miles thats only been in the shop once to fix the stupid automatic suspension shite they put on the vehicle

I've put half a million miles on four 5.3's and never had an issue

awesome, going to get my wife a new car this weekend and she seems to like the Tahoe
Get her one with the 3.0 Duramax and never look back. Will have the 10-speed trans in it and she’ll love how quiet it is, especially for a diesel
Just make sure she puts diesel fuel in the dang thing at the pump
;)

That’s another component. GM sales for vehicles with these engines has been through the roof the past few years. You can’t drive around any town without seeing a 2020-2024 GM truck or SUV. They are everywhere
For every person with issues there’s 50 more running just fine
They still need to fix some issues but every automaker is hampered by the emission requirements.

Ha, not in what I was looking for! Found a 2018 High Country 1500 with only 34k miles on it, PRISTINE, with a bed cap for $37k. Steal in my opinion.

It's one thing I would love to see Trump roll back is these stupid CAFE requirements. They are destroying reliability for 1 or 2 mpg
Posted on 4/25/25 at 2:56 pm to Civildawg
I have one of these. already having transmission issues that seem to be common and been waiting for the motor to blow up.
Posted on 4/25/25 at 3:06 pm to stout
If GM is doing a stop sale, they’ve already known about the issue for months. Maybe longer.
Compare this to how Toyota handled their crankshaft issues or the turbo issues on the new Tundra. Toyota is better at looking after their customers in situations like this.

my wife has had two of those and although comfortable as can be they both seemed to fall apart pretty rapidly, no engine issues though
So she had one that fell apart pretty rapidly then bought another one?

Well, shite.
Nice older lady at work has a newer Suburban.
She just lost her husband a couple of months ago and now this.

I would go diesel you pay up front but you make it up in longevity and resale.
My friend has one and I've been in in when we pulled his boat and you can feel sluggish of the motor working harder. I dont know about the 2500 gas really outside of that experience
I have the duramax 2500 and I don t feel the slug down at all moving my camper or boat.
I also have the at4 in a 5.3 that is bulletproof so far.

Depending on the year, door handles, door lock actuators; stuff like that.
Quiet and powerful, with decent MPG.

Some oil consumption issues. Per bulletin from GMC, anything more than 1 quart "burned" every 2000 miles is considered excessive.

Posted on 4/25/25 at 4:23 pm to Seth Bullock
Jesus Christ. “Working as intended” is burning a couple quarts of oil between oil change services. fricking GM, man.
