Will be interesting to see from where the EV manufacturers procure their plastic material to produce the miracle zero CO2 unicorns and exactly where the asphalt to drive on will come from when they displace oil.

Isn't that a better way to utilize the remaining finite amount of oil reserves?

Also I have a big problem trading in what was near energy independence for being dependent on China for lithium batteries

The same state whose idiot governor wants to eliminate all IC engines by 2030?
These people pushing this crap have no clue about reality.

The logistics of densely populated cities and their push to ban the sale of ICE vehicles is interesting to me. A large number of single family homes, much less condos and apartments, have no off street parking.

These feel good bills keep getting floated to ban ICE vehicles without addressing the logistics of how that would impact the lower income residents of their cities/states, which is humorous given that the lefties are supposed to be their champions. I can't even begin to imagine the cost of outfitting entire cities like SF, Seattle, NYC with street side charging stations at nearly every residence.

What are you doing to do? Stop buying vehicles if they only buy electric?

The manufacturer(s) that keep at least one gasoline model in their lineup will see very good sales for those.
I’ll be in either that market, or the classic car market.

Ideally, if 90% of new sales go to EVs, I’ll be buying low demand $1 a gallon gas.

Those models are selling, but they aren’t exactly flying off the lots in all of their dealer locations.

Because the majority doesn't want them.
It's the government telling us what is good for us and what we need. If the US government didn't launder billions through the "green programs" they wouldn't need this cover, but now they are all in.

battery is perfectly fine for conventional vehicles, ranges are getting longer and charges getting shorter. less service and maintenance requirements for the vehicle. it seems more appropriate for personal vehicles.

Will get you many downvotes here.

who cares?
if they think spending much more time annually for gas/maintenance to save 15 minutes on a trip they may make 1-2x a year is favorable trade for personal vehicles, that's like their opinion, man.

I’m 51, and I will never buy any of that shite. Between my dad and myself, we have approximately 30 old vehicles, and at least that many spare motors, transmissions, and rear ends.

If it came down to it, I own enough real estate on my roof capture solar and couple it with battery storage to keep my home fully powered and charge vehicles… if that was the direction I wanted to go.

Stopping at a charger for 30 mins on a road trip is not a huge deal for me, i could maybe do that every 300 miles. Its what happens if you get there and there are already 3 people waiting in line to each charge 30 mins.

Family members has the Range Rover PHEV and another has the Audi e-tron

Both really nice vehicles.

I personally like driving the Range PHEV better

Ok but that's the thing. I'm not spending $83k for the Range Rover plug in hybrid that gets a piddling 19 miles on the electric charge or $65k on the Audi E Tron when it gets just 220 miles on a charge.

It has to be able to go 300 miles minimum so we can travel from Dallas to most major cities in Texas on one charge. It needs to be big enough to comfortably put a child seat in the back so the wife and I are not wrenching our backs to move the chair or child in and out of the vehicle. It must have a normal dash w/actual buttons so we're not having to look at a tablet just to do basic in car functions.

Basically the first company to put up an affordable (ie no more than $50k BEFORE tax breaks) mid sized SUV or mini van that can do all that gets our money.

It's needs to be a family car that can do family car things but with a worthwhile range. Almost none of the current full on EVs come close to doing that.

Oh no doubt it’s more of a vehicle that you drive around the town/city, still need for a combustion vehicle.

I'm going to purchase an EV F150. Most of my truck driving is around my home area. I could on occasion tow a boat 50 to 60 miles in one direction so 100 to 120 miles.

Better hope the boat dock has a charging station.

The towing range on those is going to be in the double digits.
