…and even brought them a gun to do it with
quote:

On May 25, 2025, RPSO received a complaint of animal cruelty that allegedly occurred inside the city limits of Glenmora on May 21, 2025. In the initial complaint, it was alleged that two house dogs had been killed and buried and the incident had possibly been mishandled by the Glenmora Police Department. The investigation was turned over to the RPSO Criminal Investigations Division for further investigation.

From their investigation, Sheriff’s Detectives learned that the owner of the dogs was not going to be at their residence for an unknown amount of time. During their absence they had asked their neighbor, later identified as Shyana Marie Bordelon, to care for their two small house dogs while they were away. At some point, Bordelon decided that she wanted to terminate care of the two animals. Bordelon and her son, identified as Murray Joseph Gros, contacted Glenmora Animal Control to remove the dogs from the residence. Animal Control did not take the animals into custody as there was no reason to do so as she had admittedly been given the responsibility of care and the dogs did not belong to Bordelon.

At this point, Bordelon and Gros contacted the Glenmora Police Department and Officer Steven Ware responded. The subjects were advised by Officer Ware that they could shoot the two dogs to which they replied that they did not have a firearm. Officer Ware returned to the Glenmora Police Department where he retrieved a personal rifle to which he provided to Gros. Gros then shot both dogs, killing them and then buried them. Gros then returned the rifle to Officer Ware.

Upon completion of the investigation Sheriff’s Detectives found sufficient probable cause existed to arrest all three subjects that participated in the killing of these dogs. On June 3, 2025, Gros was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center where he remains at the time of this release, being held on a $7500.00 bond. On June 4, 2025, Bordelon was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center where she remains at the time of this release, also being held on a $7500.00 bond On June 3, 2025, Ware was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. Ware was released on June 4 on a $12,500.00 bond. Sheriff’s Detectives say the Glenmora Police Department has been cooperating fully with their investigation. This is still an active, ongoing investigation and if anyone has any information relating to these crimes, they are asked to contact Detective Ryan Lewis, Criminal Investigation Division-Glenmora Substation, at 318-748-4226. “ALL PERSONS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW OR ADMINISTRATIVE ACTION.” Arrestee:

Shyana Marie Bordelon, 47 733 8th Street, Glenmora, LA Charges: 2 Counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals 1 Count Criminal Conspiracy

Arrestee: Murray Joseph Gros IV, 26 723 8th Street, Glenmora, LA Charges: 2 Counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals 1 Count of Criminal Conspiracy

Arrestee: Steven Matthew Ware, 33 1482 Evangeline Street, Oakdale, LA Charges: 2 Counts Aggravated Cruelty to Animals 1 Count Malfeasance in Office 1 Count Criminal Conspiracy 1 Count Obstruction of Justice

They violated the first rule of animal control.
Shoot, Shovel, and Shut up. Then deny, deny, deny.

Cops suck. They don’t want to help. Just sit in AC car till they retire.

To be fair...

If she had taken the dogs to be put down at a vet with poison and then buried them, would it have been an issue?

I mean legally. Kind of shitty but I don't know if using a widely accepted and universal method of putting an animal down is any different.

I mean we've all seen Ol' Yeller.

Dogs are property and you’re not allowed to dispose of your neighbors property Willy nilly.

I'm in agreement on that part.

It's destruction of property that doesn't belong to you...not the method, right?

Because I grew up in the country and...that's how my great uncle did it.
