I spent a lot of effort getting 3 degrees, becoming a PA, and doing the same PA job for going on 11 years. I have a great gig.....But I wouldn't give up my wife for any job.

Career. After 36+ years I am not about to throw it all away.
Plus she is still pretty, compassionate, and makes a mean sammich. I am still crushing on her too.

Give up your wife. She WILL cheat eventually with someone that didn’t give up his career.

People who say career: happily married or want to be.
People who say wife: have bad luck with the ladies and it’s their fault.

Career. Easy.

I have a great career, but honestly without my wife (and kids) I'd probably be an unsuccessful POS. She's (they're) my drive during the down times when I want to say frick it and do something easier with less/no upside.

Career, no question.

It's not OT cool to admit you love your wife, but, oh well.

I’m not married but I’m up front with anyone I date that I ain’t moving anywhere that I can’t be in my current career. It’s what I love to do and I’m good at it.

I couldn’t make this amount of money anywhere else without going back to college because I never graduated with my degree

I already changed my career twice with zero experience both times. Both times for more money. The first time the money was really good but got laid off. I went back to my original career after getting laid off and just recently started over in a different career. The money will come I just have to be patient. I could always go back to my original career to fall back on.

Update:
This is purely a hypothetical situation. This exact scenario did not happen but something somewhat similar did happen to one of my coworkers.

You have an advanced medical degree. You have a great job and make excellent money. (Mid 200’s). Your wife finds out you have an addiction to narcotics. She tells you to quit your job or she is leaving you.

Do you leave your job or your wife.

I would choose to stay with my wife but I was just curious what others would do. I’m pleased to see most people would choose to stay with their wife and start a new career.

I can assure you this isn’t about me. I have never taken a narcotic in my life.

Why not ask him to go to rehab first?

A dude with a medical degree, in his mid 200s has a drug problem and his wife wants him to quit his job? I would think if he is in his mid 200s he would be too old...

But seriously, is his wife's reason for her wanting him to quit have anything to do with his addiction?
