Students these days are soft. I was on my bike and got hit by a car on State Street and still made it to class on time. I had to pull my bike out the guy's radiator. He must have had some warrants or something because he wanted no part of a call to the police, and since I didn't have any serious injuries, we just went our own ways. True story.

A girl clipped the back tire of my bike one morning. I ended up doing this really elegant (at least in my mind) role, and ended up on my feet without a scratch. The girl jumped out of her car already crying. I pointed at her and laughed then just kept walking to class. I left my destroyed bike lying in the street for her to deal with.
A few weeks later I saw the chick at the Chimes and she bought me a beer.

A friend was hit on Highland near the Union when we were undergrads about 30 years ago. The driver, an irritated black woman, got out of her car, stood over my friend who was down in the road, and said “You ain’t no car. Stay outta the street.” She got back in her car and drive away.
We laughed at him.

I've seen a few people get hit in front of Lockett back when all vehicle traffic was allowed through campus.
