Have someone with you for recovery at all times. A high school classmate bled to death in his sleep as an adult. Horrible.

4 bouts of strep throat a year for the rest of your life ain’t shite compared to a toncilectomy as an adult.

Don’t do it.

Had them taken out when I was 39. It was a bitch but I don’t regret it. Use to get sinus and tonsillitis every two months or so. Now I haven’t really been sick in years.

Tonsillectomy
Deviated septum repaired
Adenoidectomy
Polyps removed

All done at once at 33. Worse part of the process was packing removal.

Dissolvable packing makes the process easier now, 2 decades later.

Before you do it ask how many days of pain meds they give you if it’s less than 7 days worth of pain meds at a minimum of every 6 hours tell the doctor to piss off

Most doctors won’t do this unless it’s beyond absolutely necessary. Apparently there is a lot of blood loss.

I was 17 & didn’t eat for 2 weeks. Couldn’t tolerate anything cold at all. Warm liquid mashed potatoes was the only thing I could get down.

Prayed for death and remember thinking you couldn’t pay me a million dollars to ever go thru something this painful again.

Don’t do it. My wife did it at 29. She had a “good” experience and it was 2 weeks of hell.

Constant pain and horrible breath.

Not tonsils but had my throat lasered for sleep apnea surgery.Keep ice packs on throat 24 hrs a day, stock up on Gatorade and jello.Gatorade was only thingI could drink that didn’t burn like fire.
Make sure someone can be with you first couple of days.I went home because my wife is a NP but I bled like a stuck pig.Kinda shook her up but even in hospital can’t depend on anyone to watch you closely.
I also know someone that went home, wife didn’t watch him closely and he bled to death.

My 22 year old son had his removed this past Monday. His lower two were impacted sideways under the gums. Dentist said it was one of the toughest he has dealt with. Son felt like crap for 3-4 days. Take the meds they give you.

I still remember how bad it hurt in 2nd grade.
Would dread doing that as an 30+ year old.

First words to my mom post-op were, “Put them back!”

Had it done at 16 and it was miserable. Couldn’t eat for about 2 weeks. Scabs on inside of throat. Hurt to swallow anything. Lost weight. Terrible experience.

<——T&As removed at age 32.

Four days of fluids, ice cream and pain meds.

Wonderful after that.

My chronic strep throat was cured, well worth it.

My only regret is that I didn’t do it earlier.

I was 22 and had tonsils/adenoids removed and sinus surgery all at the same time. Most miserable I have ever been. Couldn’t breathe through nose, hurt to breathe through mouth. I was out a solid two weeks. With all that being said, best decision I’ve ever made. Used to get strep a couple times a year and always dealt with sore throats. In the 8+ years since I had the surgery I have yet to have a sore throat. Flu, Covid, colds and never so much as an inkling of a sore throat.

Had it done late 30s.

It ain't that big of a deal. Just follow everything the doc tells you to the letter as far as aftercare.

I've had three surgeries: tonsils, vasectomy and a vasectomy reversal.

I'd get my nuts cut again long before getting my tonsils taken out again.
