I’d do it again and twice on Sunday given my improvements in dealing with infections and improved breathing.

Doesn’t make it any less a miserable experience to go through.

More painful than hernia surgery. I would do again though. Was getting infections in the middle of the hunting season that took me out of commission for 1-2 weeks. Had one scab start bleeding again and had to get it cauterized too. Long term was worth it. Just prepare for 1-2 weeks of pain.

I was 16 and it was rough. You can’t eat shite. All I wanted was a piece of Popeyes chicken for 3 weeks.

Make sure you get liquid hydrocodone

Be prepared for a lot of soup and soft foods. And nothing red or acidic.

No red food coloring so you can watch for bleeding from the scars and no acidic stuff because you don’t want to irritate them.

You’ll probably be on a lot of chicken broth and rice or other “BRAT” foods for a while.

I couldn’t “eat” any soup or broth because of the pain. I was able to eat a couple of fried eggs the night of the surgery because I was still medicated heavily, but that was the last actual food I was able to eat for at least 9 or 10 days. I was crazy painful to swallow.

I had the UPPP plus a deviated septum repaired, so I had my nostrils packed. Even removed some of my soft palate (severe sleep apnea). It was a miserable two weeks. I literally survived for almost two weeks on nothing but a couple of small glasses of Gatorade a day. And even just drinking liquids was painful as frick. I remember watching TV all drugged up and every time a food commercial would come on, I’d have to change the channel to not torture myself. By day 7 or 8 without food, I would have sucked a midget’s dick for a Whopper with cheese.

On the bright side, you’ll lose 10-15 lbs minimum and no more strep throat.

My 22 year old son had his removed this past Monday. His lower two were impacted sideways under the gums. Dentist said it was one of the toughest he has dealt with. Son felt like crap for 3-4 days. Take the meds they give you.

Did it in late December of 2019. Got to watch future world events unfold in Wuhan from my couch. It kinda sucked, but wasn’t terrible. Had one bleeding episode early on and took it more slowly after that. Didn’t have another issue. Just follow your discharge directions and don’t exert yourself during healing.

Had it done with a septoplasty. It sucked hard for three weeks and every third day or so my throat hurts a bit, and I am two months out.

My tonsils were so infected by covid the ENT sent them to be tested for possible cancer and apparently they almost exploded after getting cut due to postules inside of them. I was eating solid food 2 days later, but I've also had far nastier pain after surgery.

Only do it if it’s absolutely necessary. I used to get sick 4 to 5 times a year due to my tonsillitis so I had no other option.

The worst pain I’ve ever been in. Worth it though. I’m hardly ever sick aside from flu every now and then and it’s been 7 years since surgery. I lost 15 pounds. I’m not a big guy so that was significant.

PS you’re going to think you are in the clear after about day 5. Then the scabs comes off. That’s where you learn a lot about yourself lol

Worth it.

No more tonsilitis, way less snoring.
