Getting my first ever MRI in 20 minutes

Wrecked my knee in the same skiing accident that obliterated my collarbone. Ortho doc thinks the ACL is torn (failed the Lachman's test apparently). Have an MRI in 20 minutes.
What's it like? Should I prepare for an anal probe?

No matter what they say, insist on keeping your nose ring in.

For a knee you should go in feet first so not so bad. Head in first is much more claustrophobic.

The key to a pleasant MRI is to avoid all those safety precautions....
If you want it to be your last MRI ever

Unless you're claustrophobic it's no big deal; you just lay there (I assume you will not be standing) while you are partially in a large tube. You will hear some loud noises, but it's fairly quick and painless.
But do heed all safety precautions, or it could become a VERY BIG DEAL

You should offer to pay extra to have them check above the shoulders.

Make sure they play nothing but Dane Cook standup while you’re in there.

Bro just lay down and go to sleep.
I’ve had like ten of them.
Lay there and chill.

Make sure you wear your 20 lb workout chain in the room.

They're a lot faster now.. MRI on my knee in 2018 took 30 minutes, laying still with my bottom half in the machine.
Did one on my brain last year that was 15 minutes first round, then inject contrast and 5 more minutes. That one was claustrophobic AF.. the opening was barely bigger than my shoulders and I had to tuck my elbows in. Then one of the earplugs fell out and no way to reach it.

I just let the wooshing noise put me to sleep. But I do not have an ounce of claustrophobia..

Hope you don’t get claustrophobic. Remember to take off your wedding ring and anything else metal.
It may not be as bad as I said since it is a knee and not a back, but the machine was definitely uncomfortable the last time I had one.

The best sleep you'll ever get is in an MRI machine

I pass out cold within 5-10 minutes every time I've done one. They have to wake me up to get me out of there.
