Personally, I think it's BS. (Not her story, but that store's policy.)

It's ridiculous. I had a cashier make a big deal because my five year old daughter was touching a six pack of beer in the basket along with everything else when checking out. It wasn't like I was cracking open a cold one for my preschooler.

This isn't relevant, but has anyone ever had a similar situation and if so what did you do?

Wife and I look way younger than we are. We we're at the local walmarks and buying some beer.

Cashier in addition to me, also made my wife pull out her ID to prove we were both of age. ...I understand one of us, but never understood why making both people pull out their IDs even if the other is underage.

It's a legitimate question posed by the poster OweO. He tries to bring light and hope to this board but just gets shite on in the process. It's time to lighten up on him and give him his due as a poster.

Sounds like the lady was too young to have children. Late 30’s with a 17 year old. Wow. She get pregnant when she was 16.

So you guys can walk public streets taking shots as you please but you can’t buy a 6-pack if your 17 year old kid walked into Wal-Mart with you?

Liquor laws are weird.

I'm pretty sure people under 21 can't drink in the bar no matter who buys it for them

IDK it may have changed since 2005-2009, but I use to go drink with my mom here or there, more the closer to when I was 20. But as long as a parent buys it and puts it in your hand, it is/was 100% legal. At least in louisiana at that time.

Frankly, it's debatable which of you sucks worse. Probably you, since I've never seen him mention his cats.

Unless it's changed in the last 10 years that's not true. You can drink at 18 with a parent.

Went to a bunch of bars on bourbon with my dad before the sugar bowl on NYE.

This happened to me in Nashville. I was buying alcohol with my girlfriend and they checked her ID also, the cashier said she wouldn't sell it to me if she was under age.

In before Hanson.

I had that happen once when I was trying to buy wine with some groceries. I was shopping with my sister. I was of age, she wasn't. I thought it was strange, but we were obviously much closer in age than a mother daughter. That's a bit much.

So if you would have gone back to that cashier and she wasn't with you (she goes back to the car), since it would have been just you do you think they would have still denied you?

You wrote 27 fricking paragraphs when all you had to say was:

quote:

A woman and her 17 year old daughter went to a store to buy a few things for Easter Sunday including alcoholic beverages. This lady is in her late 30s. Her daughter was with her and the cashier asked to see the daughter's ID. When she saw she was 17 the cashier told the mother she wouldn't sell her the alcohol. What the frick?
