Had a woman call me and make an offer on my condo. Told her my wife would divorce me and my kids and grandkids would never talk to me again.

Happens frequently with me. I have fun with it, letting them ask all kinds of questions. Finally, I ask how much, they want to pass it along (thinking this is a hot lead) to someone who will make an offer. I have "wasted" about 30 minutes of their time by then.

I’ve gotten three or four and another asking if I want to sell my parents’ house. Public records offer a lot of information but I have no idea how they got my phone number on my parents’ house.

Did your agent tell you this? Because if so they are lying and you should fire them immediately.

No need to worry about that. Once you bring on an selling agent that agent will have, in their contract with you, a stipulation stating that only THEY will be allowed to sell your home and that all offers must go through them. That means that you have turned over everything to do with the sale of your home, except any price adjustments, to them and that you cannot sell to an individual who makes an offer over the phone to you.

The result is that when someone calls to try to purchase your home like these callers do, all you have to say is that you have an agent under contract. These folks do NOT like dealing with agents and they will simply say "thank you," and end the call.

I'll admit, my name is Marcus, and I have given these scumbags my old phone number from when I lived in Mobile about 25 years ago just because it was such a f***ed up number - (334) 343-4364.

If that's your number, I apologize.

This is how we bought our house. Introduced ourselves to the owners and let them know we are interested in their house should they ever decide to sell. 6 months later they called us back and sold us the house.

BUT this situation sounds a little suspicious. Person didn't know anything about the house including bedrooms and s.f....etc. Definitely a scam. You can look that crap up on Zillow.

All of that information is available to the public, no reason for an investor or anyone else to try and obtain it from the owner.

We live in a good neighborhood. Get them all the time. I usually tell them I won't sell it for less than 4.2 million dollars. They always hang up on me. Still looking for the one who offers to do it.

I get those calls everyday. It's house flippers looking to buy cheap, remodel and then sell.

When I bought my house, i bought the empty lots on both sides of me. I keep getting texts from people telling me they want to buy my lots.

It has to be a scam. There are still empty lots for sale all over my neighborhood and they are interested in my lots? Doubt it.

The neighborhood I live in is by the Washington parish fair grounds. Houses rarely go up for sale. Either a family member or friend buys it. I’ve only been here for a year and multiple people have told me if I sell to “let them know”. It really just depends on the location and price, and it happens quite a bit where I am.

Couple of years ago, we painted our house a different color scheme. About a month later we got a postcard with a picture of our newly painted house and offer to buy it. That's some creepy stalker shite right there.
