FIFY. It has gone downhill over the last several years for sure, but St. Patrick's Day there is unmatched anywhere else in the South.
The crime rate there has been soaring for years though. Downtown is surrounded by two of the worst neighborhoods you'll ever see (one of them is Yamacraw Village. Don't go there. Trust me) and the homeless problem in some of the squares is getting worse.
