This stupidity will sort itself out in a timely manner. Maybe they want to just go out of business.

Normally I would agree. But what about that family that owned a bakery and didn't want to bake a cake for a gay wedding. I know it was Colorado but the point is that it was private business.

Hopefully that Georgia store folds up.

This seems like it clearly runs afoul of the Civil Rights Act of 1964

You can’t hide behind “the business has freedom to deny service to different people” when for decades now race has been a protected class where such behavior was deemed illegal without second thought.

If waiving fees for certain people is discrimination, then good bye senior citizen discounts or veteran discounts.

No offense, but educate yourself as to the laws on the books and how we enforce them. Specifically pay attention to what we currently use as a basis of a “protected class”

I don’t think these things should exist, for what it’s worth, as the free market can decide such matters on its own; but they do and we have used them for decades now.

No.

The CRA of 1964 is not the Constitution

What a freaking insult to 80% of your customer base, of which %40 will proudly pay out of their white guilt.

frick that place. If they were selling vagina, I wouldn’t even browse.

Where?

I can tell you that is nowhere in that document.

It took the dubious application of the interstate commerce clause with the Civil Rights Act (which for all the "good" it has done [and it has done both good and bad], is an unconstitutional infringement on individual freedom) to get to the point that government can tell businesses who they must serve.

Close your eyes and visualize what this manager looks like.....got it????

BEHOLD!!!

A white person should book a reservation under another race then when they show up and are questioned and or denied based upon being white they should tell that they identify as not white.

Savannah is about 55-60% black but I'd imagine this is a place for hipster white kids just based on their website.

Interesting sign in the window. For $20, shoot, I'd go in for the experience. Probably like the North end of Bourbon Street.

The policy is fine. Just don’t shop there if you think it’s unfair to pay the money.

The issue lies in what the reaction would be if the roles were reversed. If this store charged the $20 and then waived the fee for whites only, it would be destroyed within a day of the story being aired.

I think a black baker should be able to refuse service to a grand wizard who wants him to write “I hate n-words” on the cake. That’s different than someone not wanting to sell a guy a car because he’s black.

Refundable? So they are just virtue signaling and hoping for publicity. It worked.
