There's something else he won't admit:
He's losing his looks as he ages. With that loss, there go the big dollars for "starring" in lesser movies,
He may have thought he'd age well and be the next Cary Grant, That isn't happening, Billy Bob Thornton has the grizzeled oldster niche filled with Woody Harrelson in the wings.
If he's thinking he can fill the Gerard Depardieu (however that's spelled), GD is in a world of hurt for his past indescretions etc. and he was much loved and admired by his fellow countrymen. That niche is closed to foreigners unless you are / were Jerry Lewis.

Once you get away from Paris and Marseilles, France is pretty "traditional" and the people much nicer especially in the smaller cities and towns. Paris is becoming a shithole and Marseilles has always sort of been a shithole.

But Toulouse is pretty nice with very friendly people and the Rhone Valley is really cool and laid back.

In terms of Clooney, I had always thought he would end up in Lake Como since he has a house there.

In France, children under six spend on average more than 850 hours a year on screens, including TVs, smartphones, tablets, and games consoles. A survey by French public health authorities revealed that two-year-olds in France spend about an hour a day in front of a screen.

n the greater Paris region, 69% of violent crimes on public transport (including assaults and harassment) were committed by foreign nationals in recent years.

Nationwide, foreigners accounted for 84% of thefts with violence, 62% of sexual violence cases, and 43% of assaults in 2024-2025 data.

Homicides, violent thefts, burglaries, and vehicle thefts also show overrepresentation.

France is nice, but if I had unlimited money I’d go to Italy, where the food is fantastic and the people are nicer.

I lived and worked in the south of France and I generally agree with this sentiment. Although I’m not sure the people are nicer. I met many nice people in France.

If I had to live in Europe I would probably take Italy or Spain over France, but I did enjoy living in a small town on the Mediterranean in France. I haven’t been to Spain in 17 years, but it was very pleasant and much, much cheaper than France or Italy.

"You know in America and especially LA, kids are on their devices, parents entertain them with TV and social media, it's not the best. Why they'd choose that over raising them in a 500 year old vineyard where we can have leisurely dinners together with our on-site chef and winemaker explaining things and educating them - anyone's guess. Personally, I blame Trump."

If you have the means, fair.
