I’ve read about CRISPR a few years back. Said to be one of the next big things and will have implications including possible immortality or at the minimum a 2000-3000 year life span for humans.

I listen to a podcast (I think freakanomics) where the inventors , if you will, tried to patent all sort of things with this technology. However, other folks came in trying to patent similar things and the law suits began flying . Don’t know what happened with all of that .

CRISPR makes genetic engineering much cheaper and faster. So cheap that a simple lab is all you need and not much training. People gonna create some weird shite!

People think the next major war will be another nation vs. nation war but I think it’s just as likely to look more like something out of X-Men. Between cybernetic enhancements and gene editing it’s going to be hard for “traditional” humans to compete in the coming world, but as usual they’ll feel the world belongs to them and not these new “freaks” that are displacing them.

Correct. Neither The Jockey Club nor AQHA recognizes clones. Therefore , they can’t compete in officially sanctioned races. I don’t think you can even register a clone with AQHA

I've never understood the glee this technology has brought to people. Taking part in altering God's plan is just as bad as abortion. He is the great creator and taker of life. Not some lab or Dyson.

I saw something on Netflix about this guy successfully cloning horses to compete in polo. He's been doing it for a while

Look into Deus Ex. The series is built around this very issue. The latest game actually approached the ethical/moral issues of enhancement versus natural in a way that the real world will eventually come face to face with.
I think it will start once tech advances enough to allow cheap and easy body mods, to more advanced cybernetics, and eventually running parallel to gene enhancing.
I do believe it’s gonna get messy politically, and probably be the next big issue, and there’s no doubt that it will be heavily regulated/outright banned in some areas. But with CRYSPR seemingly coming out of nowhere suddenly, things should get interesting in the next decade before any regulation/laws can pass. I took genetic engineering only back in 2011 and something like cryspr coming along so quickly seemed far-fetched. I can say that a person adept in computing and electronics(even just through sheer passion), and some formal knowledge of bioengineering is gonna be highly sought after in a few years

Not sure of my stance on gene editing. However, thinking that we or anyone can "alter God's plan" seems silly to me. God is God. It is all part of his plan. Just my two cents.
