Not to say we don't disagree, but she has stated before she sees me as head of household, and shown it. We have different views, but when we do and I present what I see our logical facts and paths are...she respects that. Of course we also see eye to eye on alot so that helps

So 3 weeks ago my wife and I decided to take our children out of state to my mother’s for Thanksgiving. My mom is in her 80s and may not be well enough to host a holiday much longer.

We coordinated with my 2 brothers and their families, who had to also rearrange plans in order to make it work for everyone.

Well...3 days ago, dear wife decides we should heed the CDC’s advice and stay home.
We had a pretty solid argument about it and left it with her staying home while I take the kids to Thanksgiving.

Imagine my surprise when she loses her sh!t today because I haven’t decided to break off my plans and capitulate to her will. Never mind that it would be a shitty thing to do to my family, she has latched onto the idea that I am showing how much I dislike/disrespect her by leaving her alone on Thanksgiving.

Guys...for real...don’t do it.

My wife has been absolutely amazing and there is no way she would have backed out. My Parrain‘s wife passed 2 weeks ago and we were supposed to go to the funeral but I was feeling like I had a common cold so the morning of the funeral I decided not to go because of covid. My wife was 100% on board with going still but I backed out because I have a lot of elderly relatives and didn’t want to risk it. The next morning I tested positive for covid.

Told her I tested positive and was going to sleep in a spare bedroom and she said frick that shite.

So your mom is in her 80s and you've only been married 13 years?

This isn't your first marriage is it?

You should lead with that, it sets the stage for all the problems you describe.

You know that Seinfeld episode where Elaine breaks up with a guy because he doesn't use enough exclamation points? We recently had nearly the identical argument. She texted me about something or other and my reply was insufficiently enthusiastic.

She had me when she was 42.
It is my first marriage.
Thanks for your concern though.
