By this logic we were buying gas produced when oil was lower. Right? How did that work out?
I was pretty much shite posting but the reality is that gasoline is one of the most competitive commodity markets on the planet and I’m pretty certain they have sophisticated models to set pricing to where they don’t lose their arse but can be as cheap as possible to compete with stations that are literally across the street with prices posted in big neon lights.

If you can't afford gas, buy a Prius and shut up.

General Managers of oil & gas retail fuel companies and jobbers don’t get paid, bonuses or promotions if profit targets are not hit.
Sounds like you were meant for an EV.

May I ask, do you use credit cards?
If Y, do you pay them in-full each month?
If N, are you paying 18-25% interest on your balance?
If Y, gas prices are not your biggest financial concern.
If N, well done.

Which primarily comes from extraction and selling their commodity on a global market. A small percentage of big oil's profits comes from selling refined products.

It's the federal gas taxes that is most of that cost. Don't blame the gas companies when the feds are taxing you to death. Learn who the problem is before just repeating the same line by the ol' typical economically ignorant stooge. Adjusted for inflation gas is actually negatively priced so there's that. How many bottles of water did you buy at the gas station this week? Or gallons of milk? It's still cheaper than those and just a wee bit harder to produce and get to your local honey bun store that also sells you gas.
And do you know how futures work? What you're paying for now at the pump was bought and sold months or years ago. It isn't just the price of oil today that CNBC shows you. There's a lag time. C'mon man, think!

It sounds like many of you should take the bus. In Europe petrol is much more expensive at 1.73 Euro per litre.

Neither of us really drive a lot, so thankfully gas is pretty much a rounding error in our household budget.
My 18 year old daughter drives a ton, but I mostly make her pay for her own gas. We pay for her car, insurance and phone. Go get a job you little shite
