Mine was $5.42 for mid grade in Brooklyn this morning. I don't drive a lot though so it doesn't make much difference to me.
My brother has a small trucking business in Alabama. That's where the gas prices really mean hundreds of dollars a week difference.

If avg miles driven per car is 12k/year and avg mpg is 22,
~500 gallons are consumed per car per year.
Assuming 2 cars per family, that is 1,000 gallons per year.
Every $1 increase in fuel gallon is $1000 annual cost to household.
Ish…for easy discussion sake.
Full year.

Politics are so funny man. 3 years ago it was registered republicans whining about about gas prices being too high while registered democrats were saying it's no big deal. Presently, the talking points have completely flipped. Meanwhile, the politicians on both sides of the aisle are laughing together at how easily they have their supporters eating out of their hand.

What does it matter? I don’t understand why people bitch about $3.84/gallon gas when it’s cheaper than a gallon of milk or bottled water. You will pay $2 for a 20 ounce Desani or $4 for a Fiji water but bitch about gas. Something that takes billions of dollars to get from the ground and refine so you can make it to the McDonald’s drive thru and shovel a quarter pounder in your face. It’s so stupid. It’s what short sighted poor people do.

Or perfume! But most people do not consume 1,000 gallons of Chanel 5 per year.
$1/gallon price increase is a $1000 impact (if sustained full year) to a household. Many people pay $1000 for just their soft drinks at dinner while dining out across year.
To your point (I think), get some cost perspective! Better yet, stay home and cook an extra time per month - cheaper, healthier and be together-focused, to offset fuel price.

quote:diesel prices are killing me. My company uses about 37-40k gallons a year. 5.15 versus 3.60 takes a chunk directly out of my pocket every month. So yes it matters. Of course I can raise prices to offset, but folks are pretty sensitive, if it is transient I just eat it. I’ll make the call to raise rates at end of April.
What does it matter? I

This. If he had taken care of Eye-ran, we would not be having this problem with gas.
