Well, the fund did not lose 53%.

12.5 - 8 = 4.5

4.5/12.5 = .36, or 36%.

A 53% loss would have been $6.625B, not $4.5B.

It's still a bad day, but it's not 53%.

I may have misread the article. But I think that $8 billion figure is AFTER a push for more money from investors. They specifically mention a $2.75 billion investment this week.

8 - 2.75 = 5.25
12.5 - 5.25 = 7.25
7.25 ÷ 12.5 = .58
