No they are not. This was true several years ago, but they keep them up very nicely now.

TBH, I never thought I'd see the day when Biloxi beaches would set the bar.

it's 100% due to the Mississippi river. the beaches in east Texas down to Galveston are gross. the sand is the color of chocolate milk. it gets slightly better as you move south, with Port Aransas being marginally cleaner. much, much improved by the time you get to South Padre.

conversely, moving west, you are at clean, near white beaches almost immediately west of the mouth of the river.

incidentally, Galveston beaches are much darker than Mississippi beaches in other regards as well.

Call me trashy but man I enjoy the MS Coast. It’s laid back. Not packed. Cheap. Close to home. Good food not over priced. The locals are super friendly and welcoming also.

Florida is nice for a visit and all but man there’s just so many things working against it. The prices are jacked up, it’s crowded and weirdos are attracted. Some of the weirdest people on earth reside in FL

Yeah Galveston is a dump. But South Padre isn’t bad at all, much nicer than Galveston or Padre Island proper

This. The area has like an old school coastal town feel that is really cool, compared to some Uber-resorty destination beach feel like many FL panhandle places.

Galveston to basically anywhere just North of Port A suck. The only saving grace is you can drive on them which helps if you want to surf fish or have a solid base of operations for ice chests and other beach stuff without having to carry shite very far but otherwise just a tremendous eye sore. Tho high dollar Galveston resorts try to maintain their section of beach but honestly the beaches don’t really begin to look good till Port A.

Padre is just so damn far. If you’re gonna drive that far you might as well go a little further to the AL beaches

Laguna Madre has some of the clearest water I have ever seen...also may be one of the saltiest bays in world.

It was a lot better before Ike tore it up, but I still wouldn't call it a "dump" today.

It is wildly unfair in how nice the Gulf beaches in Florida are compared to anywhere else on the US Gulf Coast.

There's no reason for anyone to downvote this. They're just straight up gross.

I dont think Biloxi beaches are at all better than Galveston. They are both pretty much not good.

Hell I’ve been to the beaches on the Atlantic side from St Simons down to Daytona, I still think the panhandle beaches are superior.

The sand is trash on the Atlantic side too.

Pointe West does a very good job maintaining their beaches…..cars are not allowed as well.

Still not great but better than eastward.

I really like Ocean Springs. It’s exactly as you described. The tourists don’t come and ruin it. They simply skip right over it to get to the beaches to the east.

Seems like a very nice place not only to visit but to live.

If we're only judging it on water and sand quality, they are on par or better than any I've seen in the states, including Hawaii.
