Hasn’t this gone on long enough? Both families lost a child the Petito family is just adding insult to injury at this point. Not saying she deserved what happened. Her family didn’t care when she left town with that loser but now that it went sideways they are looking for a payout. Interested to see what comes of this.

quote:

Lawyers for Gabby Petito’s parents announced Monday that they will file a $50 million wrongful death lawsuit against the Moab Police Department, two officers who interacted with her just days before her death and two former leaders. The family alleges that Moab officers Eric Pratt and Daniel Robbins failed to properly handle a 911 call in which a witness claimed he saw Brian Laundrie hitting Petito and trying to steal her phone and drive off without her in the middle of downtown Moab.

Amazing what happens when legal fees show upon and especially in the mentality of people today.

You obviously don’t understand grief. My mom has been gone over 12 years, and I still grieve her loss. I can’t imagine having my child get murdered.

True - but it’s not the Moab PD’s fault

There are a lot of people to blame in this situation. The bulk being on her parents. This is embarrassing for them.

Anyone who saw that video knows Gabby NEVER made any claim of being abused and in fact admitted she hit him and the police MADE them separate that night. She chose to go back to him, how are the police at fault? It is a terrible story and the girl in no way deserved to die, but the police did not cause this.

Sorry for your loss. In my opinion no amount of money will replace a loved one.

The video I saw looked like she was upset, but not in any way wanting out of the situation.

The parents are looking to score, and that sickens me.

Are cops supposed to be mind readers and soothsayers?

Normally I would say its a money grab, but they ahve a point.

Was enough done during that traffic stop? I guess we'll find out...but you can be Moab PD probably didnt share everything for this very reason.

Its sad, but the only way they can find out for sure is to file a lawsuit

Sad situation, and seems like it's surrounded by bad people on all sides.

The guy who did the murdering is the one to blame in this situation.

There's a video of the entire confrontation and they made them sleep separate that night as a cool off period. They can't just arrest him based on one eye witness when she denied that he hit her.

The police have no obligation to protect her, even if they witnessed him strangling her. They cant be liable.

No, she should've been arrested for the violent crime she admitted committing.

I've been shite on by a few people here for maintaining that the bulk of the "blame" goes to the two grown people who couldn't get along, had called off an engagement, and fought all the time even when they had an actual home to live in decided to live together in a van and travel cross country.

Anyone who has seen the video understands that there wasn't much the police could do. They were put in a no-win situation. If neither wanted to press charges then what do you want the police to do.

Agree. People act like she was 12. She wasn't. She was an adult. His parents aren't to blame here. The two adults are. This is a prime example that you can't believe Instagram lives. They were basically living in a van down by the river and experienced the same issues all lower income people do.
