I've been looking around for a '69 Camaro project. Got to wondering what new cars currently will achieve classic status 30-40 years from now. Are there any?

not many normal cars are going to be classics in the same sense. too many parts to fail over a long time.

My predictions:
Cadillac CTS-V
Ford Raptor
Pontiac Soltice
Just thinking American

Anything not driven by a robot will be illegal in the future.

The biggest problem with all of these cars is the aging of computer and tech equipment.
1930 car - you can find someone to rebuild almost every party.
More modern electronics - not so much.

No modern cars (except for maybe supercars) will ever be considered classic for 2 reasons:
1. Classic cars could be maintained by an average Joe with a little practice and know-how because they were purely mechanical. Modern cars have too many electronics and computers, so they get extremely expensive to maintain as they age.
2. Classic cars were made of metal and real glass. Plastic just doesn't hold up the same. It fades, discolors, and eventually looks dated and cheap. Plastic bodies are akin to synthesizers and drum machines in music. They make music sound dated while acoustic instruments or overdriven guitar sound timeless.

The 2003-2004 Mustang Mach 1 and SVT Cobra could fit the bill. Still fairly simple technologically speaking, made in limited enough numbers (Cobras even serialized), name recognition.

I loved the SVT Cobra R so much when I was growing up.
