Well let’s put it this way….I will never vote for a candidate for President or Governor or even local official who advocates banning fracking. If that makes me selfish in someone’s personal eyes, oh well. I’ve got people who depend on me for a roof over their heads and food on their plates.

I wonder if any state road repairs/maintenance type projects are getting the veto pen because a legislator didn’t go his way.
Two that I can find vetoed in HB460:
- $25k to Bossier Parish for a study on Highway 537
- $250k to Iberia Parish for Gaubert Road and Division Road overlay and improvements
Vetoed in HB2:
- $4.2 million for US-71 improvement in Bossier
- $10.3 million for Mills Ave and Champagne Blvd improvements in St. Martin
- $865k for Robertson Lift Station improvements in Minden
These were all in districts of Republicans who opposed HB148. That’s 5 of the 16 total items from HB2 and HB460 vetoed in those Republicans’ districts.

So the Governor in fact did veto projects on actual state government infrastructure in districts of legislators who went against him while letting non state pet project funding of legislators who were with him get funded.
Thanks for the info.
Thanks for the info.

Pretty much, but I should also add that Landry said - at least in his veto letter - that his vetoes in HB2 were because that bill exceeded the available funding by about $1 million.
Of course that doesn’t really explain why he cut $15 million worth of projects from the bill.
Nor does it explain why he cut $275k worth of highway projects from HB460 while leaving *checks notes* $600k for building renovations in Delhi, $625k for YWCA of Greater Baton Rouge, or $500k for the Finding Roots Museum to purchase a new building.

Rep. Mike Bayham, R-Chalmette, lost $6,000 for signage at Pearl Harbor Memorial Park in Arabi.
Playing on words related to the Japanese sneak attack on the Hawaiian naval base in 1941, Bayham said, “I was not given any forewarning on the cut, and I was taken by surprise.”
Ain’t nobody even goes to that little strip
A little more context… Bayham is working with and supporting the Save Our St Bernard group trying to stop the Louisiana International Terminal which our state and St Bernard Parish needs, a project that Governor Landry came out in support of. I expect that he’ll get a Landry funded challenger for the next legislative election.

Bayham is supposed to be a pro-economic growth legislator. What are his motives here? Genuine concern for the parish via not enough supporting infrastructure, or something else?
Billy Nungesser looks to be opposed to the terminal as well. Guess he’s on opposite sides from Landry on this issue.

Dems will show up to vote against Landry next time. Many repubs have seen Landry for what he is and are voting against him.
The Dem's problem is that they have no one on their bench.

They need someone who can mask as a “moderate” like JBE did. You’re right, not sure if that person is on their bench, and even if so, doubtful they’ll get the support of the new guy who is now chairman of the LA Democrat Party. He wants “real Democrats” representing the party in Baton Rouge, which I’m guessing means the freaks who think born males should be allowed to compete in girls sports and want on of the largest industries in the state to disappear tomorrow.
As much as some in the GOP base may be dissatisfied with Landry, not sure a “real Democrat” can beat him in a statewide race.

Probably it, but it might be the people that funded him that don’t want it. Notice it took a bill from the Covington rep to get some infrastructure in motion, and our parish president is getting recalled for his perceived support

Who can beat him in a primary is the most important question.

he cruises to reelection
of course he will...
because even if these dumbass people LOATHE him, he's at least on "their team" and has the right letter following his name on the ballot.... even if they are voting directly against their own best interest, it's easier to just vote for the guy who's name you know, vs. actually learning the platform of the other candidates on the ballot, or, god forbid, voting for another party, even if they actually would have better policy that would better for you personally....
it's fricking sad, but that's the way people are.... just straight down ballot, not a thought about it, just because... fricking stupid

Kellee Dickerson, R-Denham Springs, lost $100,000 for tennis and pickle ball courts at Live Oak High School in the community of Watson.
The state has no business funding any of these things.

You now your neighborhood could go up in flames due to corporate greed too? Look at cancer alley in Laplace, LA. Everyone there has a higher rate of cancer. Bad things just don’t come from poor people.
Santa Clara County v Southern Pacific Railroad and Citizens United v FEC told us corporations have personhood so they are stuck with the personal responsibility mantra too.
"Personal responsibility" is all too often used to suggest an individual should take the burden of another's mistake.
