It wasnt D vs R. The Democrats didnt seriously contest the race. A Republican was going to win and there were any number of Republicans running who were better qualified. Louisiana voters deliberately picked the worst alternative.
The R party endorsed or whatever Landry before the fkn R primary, the forced this dude upon us baw.

I’m sure it’s happened before. Governors use the line item veto many times during their term. I’m sure there are same party instances throughout history. Regardless, it’s politics…and it ain’t for the faint hearted or thin skinned. This is the real world, not a civics class.

Yeah, as much disdain as I have for Landry, let’s be clear -
frick Democrat pieces of shite and all the garbage and filth they stand for. If you think you’re one of the cool liberals you’re lying to yourself.

So while I’d much rather a better right wing choice, Landry would be probably be better than anyone the MODERN Democrat (high taxing, govt entitlements, tranny, Antifa, illegal alien, gun grabbing, pedo) supports.

Mandeville is probably the wealthist city per capita in the whole damn state. But the Pork money they want for a pickle ball court couldn't be better spent elsewhere...

Well, according to your post, the pickleball court was for Denham Springs, which, let me check my Google Maps real quick, yep, is neither Mandeville nor the wealthiest area of the state...

So, yeah, there's no legitimate or acceptible reason those representatives would want to increase the quality of a school or public recreation area. Everyone in Louisiana reads fine and is crazy fit.

Troop Nola and getitng rid of JBE soft on crime legislation have been positives. Also made some progress getitng rid of or reducing business taxes have been positives His Secretary of LED is very good. JBEs was a joke. We can find a better GOP candidate but Landry is superior to any Democrat

You paraphrased this:

quote:

“This is how governors pass their agenda,” Magee said, through the threat of vetoing projects that legislators want because it will improve their districts and boost their standing back home. “He probably feels like his agenda is their agenda, and he’s trying to cajole them into voting with him next time. This is big boy politics. You got to put your pants on and play. They (legislators) know the score, and they know the game.”

Landry put up a sign celebrating that his wife is from Iberia parish.

I saw that too I had a good chuckle on that one, but if I was the Governor I probably would have done the same. I would have made the signs bigger and put my picture and/or my wife depending on the sign.

I don’t have a dog in the fight due to me not living there anymore. But if what Landry is doing isn’t the correct course, then what would be? I am not casting doubt on anyone’s opinions, genuinely curious.

Let me see if I got this right. Cutting 100k for a pickle ball court, and this other wasteful pork is now a bad thing?

I don’t play pickle ball but at least these are all school improvements or public infrastructure.

Look at the Southeast Louisiana flood protection authority. He has put his cronies in power positions over there and half the board resigned.

Meh, you're right but the point is still the same. That kinda chit is for local cities and governments. Not loading pork into state budgets. If it was diff Republican Governor you guys would be celebrating how he's trying to trim the fat.

That he may be a Trial lawyer buddy POS has nothing to do with it...

That asshat from Shreveport is just trying to deflect the fact he was called out for Porking up the state budget.

I’m not a Landry fan, but these veto actions here really aren’t any different than what Jindal and John Bel Edwards did before him. It’s using the “bully pulpit”, something Louisiana governors in general have been known to do, and Huey P Landry is going to take every advantage of it. Anyone paying attention to Louisiana politics and government over the past 20 years knew he would.

And I’m not going to feel bad for any legislator who gets a tennis court vetoed. That kind of shite needs to stop finding its way into Capitol Outlay bills. Has no place in state government funding.

In Jeff’s defense these were all legislators “pet projects”. Sorry, but I don’t want money going to Live Oak for pickleball courts. He should have vetoed the whole frickin bill with how much bullshite and money laundering is in it every year.

That is not in Landry’s defense, you just highlighted the entire problem. He vetoed the projects of legislators who did not vote the way he wanted. That overtly implies, fall in line next time and you get to keep your pork BS projects.

This type of thing is not isolated to Landry or Louisiana, it happens everywhere. That said, Jeff Landry is still a piece of shite and embarrassment to Louisiana… Omar the meth Tiger, letting the trial attorneys have whenever they want, threatening retribution on a sports team over the national anthem, etc.

Good luck Louisianans
